As a nurturing university community, we challenge students, faculty, staff, and administration to fully realize their highest academic, professional, and personal potential.</p> <p>Position Description Summary/Purpose:</p> <p>The Certified Nursing Aide (CNA)/ Patient Care Technician (PCT) Instructor is responsible for planning, teaching, evaluating, and overseeing classroom, lab, and clinical instruction in the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) programs. The instructor ensures that students gain the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to succeed in healthcare settings, while maintaining compliance with state and federal training regulations. This position supports student success and program excellence through quality instruction, adherence to curriculum standards, and professional mentorship.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:</p> <p>(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)</p> <ul> <li>Develops and delivers CNA/PCT curriculum in alignment with Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) standards. </li><li>Provides classroom, skills lab, and clinical instruction and supervision. </li><li>Evaluates student performance and provides feedback and remediation as needed. </li><li>Maintains accurate records of student attendance, progress, and competency checklists. </li><li>Assists with program planning, revision, and accreditation efforts. </li><li>Communicate effectively with students, staff, and clinical partners. </li><li>Ensures compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety procedures in all instructional settings. </li><li>Models' professional behavior, punctuality, and ethical conduct. </li><li>Monitors students during clinical experiences to ensure safety and adherence to facility policies. </li><li>Conducts all work in a safe manner and ensures all work safety practices are followed. </li></ul> <p>Other Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates. </li><li>Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends. </li><li>Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Ability and Skill:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and clinical environment. </li><li>Strong understanding of nursing assistant and patient care technician practices and procedures. </li><li>Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional strategies. </li><li>Ability to use learning management systems (LMS) and simulation tools effectively. </li><li>Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in healthcare and education. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education, Training and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of an associate's degree in nursing (bachelor's degree preferred). </li><li>Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Connecticut. </li><li>At least two years (2+) of nursing experience, including one year (1+) in a long-term care facility. </li><li>Formal training or experience in adult education or nurse aide instruction are preferred. </li><li>Or any equivalent combination of education, work experience, and training that meets Connecticut DPH standards. </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Valid license & insured vehicle </li><li>Must have completed a Train-the-Trainer program approved by the CT Department of Public Health. </li><li>Valid driver's license and insured vehicle (if travel to clinical sites is required). </li><li>Must pass background and health screenings per regulatory guidelines. </li></ul> <p>Full-Time Employee Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Medical Insurance </li><li>Dental Insurance </li><li>Vision Insurance </li><li>Pet Insurance </li><li>401k employer match </li><li>Employee & dependent life insurance </li><li>Great tuition benefits for employee, spouse & dependents </li><li>PTO program </li><li>Flexible work schedules </li></ul> <p>(This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between Goodwin University and employee.
