<p>The Instructor of Associate Degree Nursing is primarily responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. The ADN Instructor is responsible for introducing students to the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary for the safe practice of nursing and successful completion of the licensure exam. The hours of work may include day, evening or weekend responsibilities. The Instructor is also responsible for providing related services and support activities required for optimal student learning, safe practice and effective educational programming. The Instructor is accountable for assisting and supporting the program director as needed in meeting the instructional requirements of the program and maintaining compliance with accreditation.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Teach assigned theory and clinical skills effectively using current educational sources;</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare instructional plans for each class session and in accordance with the stated objectives of the course;</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure student achievement for all students through the use of testing techniques and other measures of monitoring progress and providing a variety of instructional materials, activities, and approaches to learning:</p> </li></ol> <p>a. Set high expectations for learning for all students based on their individual needs;</p> <p>b. Develop and monitor plans of improvement for students who are not meeting academic goals;</p> <p>c. Provide additional assistance to students who are not meeting academic goals;</p> <ol start="4"> <li> <p>Build and maintain positive relationships with clinical affiliates;</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain complete and accurate office and student records in a timely, efficient manner;</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times, and comply with all other institutional rules and regulations pertinent to classroom/clinical instruction and general employment;</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the program director in the development and revision of course content, syllabi, first day handouts, curriculum plans and instructional documentation;</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in departmental, divisional and college meetings as required to fulfill accreditation requirements, committee assignments and the contractual agreement;</p> </li><li> <p>Practice responsible fiscal, facility and resource management by:</p> </li></ol> <p>a. Procuring supplies and equipment following budget guidelines with approval of the program director;</p> <p>b. Ensure the care and maintenance of college facilities and equipment;</p> <ol start="10"> <li> <p>Maintain supportive relations at all times with all departments of the college, business community, and healthcare entities used as clinical sites;</p> </li><li> <p>Follow and support the mission of the college, improvement initiatives, and state and federal mandates;</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain instructional on-campus hours, posted office hours, and clinical hours sufficient to fulfill all contracted duties;</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain nursing credentials in accordance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act:</p> </li></ol> <p>a. Attend continuing education opportunities for professional development;</p> <p>b. Maintain safe and drug free nursing practices while perform job duties;</p> <ol start="14"> <li> <p>Serve as a role model of professionalism for the students;</p> </li><li> <p>Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned by the program director or other college administration.</p> </li></ol>
