<p>Utah Valley University is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to lead custodial operations within Dining Services. This role supervises a team of hourly student custodians, providing hands-on training in effective floor care, cleaning techniques, and safety practices to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for the campus community. In addition to overseeing daily custodial responsibilities, the position also supports evening catering events by coordinating with catering staff to ensure smooth execution and proper post-event cleanup. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys mentorship, takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and thrives in a team-oriented, service-focused setting.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supervise and train custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety issues and use of all custodial equipment. Enforcing rules, regulations, and policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain inventory and supervise the usage of supplies, chemicals, and equipment. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in hiring qualified employees by participating in the interview process and making recommendations regarding the employment of applicants. Approve electronic time sheets, assumes the duties of absence student custodians in their assigned area.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides work direction to evening catering student employees. Monitor evening catering events to ensure they function smoothly in a highly professional manor.</p> </li></ul> <p>Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling 4 years. </p> <p>Licenses/Certifications</p> <p> A Food Handler's Permit is required within the first 30 days of employment.Knowledge</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of supervision and training.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of custodial sanitation and sterilization methods and techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the proper and safe use and storage of cleaning compounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the proper and safe use of ladders.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of safe lifting and moving techniques.</p> </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Skills in interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and decision-making. </li></ul> <p>Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to train and provide work direction to others.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to use cleaning materials, equipment, and methods according to pre-determined</p> </li></ul> <p>standards.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to communicate effectively regarding expectations, training, and discipline.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to analyze diverse situations and use sound reasoning skills to apply an appropriate solution in a timely and efficient manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to inventory janitorial supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to teach procedures to accomplish assignments more efficiently</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to walk, bend, lift, push, and stand for extended periods of time.</p> </li></ul>
