<p>Do you hold a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field and have at least three (3) years of government accounting experience? Consider applying for Accountant II in the Chatham County Finance Department.</p> <p>In this role, you</p> <ul> <li>Perform accounting work in a lead capacity to develop accounting procedures and maintain and review the County's fiscal records.  </li><li>Assist in preparing the year-end financial and quarterly reports, including reconciliation of accounts and funds, preparing financial notes and statements, and reviewing finalized reports for accuracy.  </li><li>Assist auditors in conducting annual/periodic audits, obtain information, retrieve records, prepare reports, perform research and resolve problems with the annual audit, and provide other assistance as needed for auditors.  </li><li>Reconcile bank accounts and accounts payable, including reviewing and comparing general ledger and bank statements for errors, preparing outstanding checklists, and preparing bank reconciliation reports.  </li><li>File incoming revenue receipts from the cashier's office, including preparing labels and files for revenue accounts and labeling, sorting, and filing incoming revenue receipts.  </li><li>Reconcile revenue accounts for all funds, including balancing revenue accounts at the end of the month according to the general ledger and revenue receipts received, re-classing revenues not recorded correctly, and reconciling deposits bank accounts and deposits to revenue.  </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, and  </li><li>At least three (3) years of government accounting experience, including proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Suite products; or  </li><li>Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. </li></ul>
