<p>Founded in 1986, St. Charles Community College (SCC) has a reputation as one of the best two-year colleges in the state of Missouri. The success of SCC is rooted in the mission of serving the community by "focusing on academic excellence, student success, workforce advancement, and life-long learning within a global society."</p> <p>St. Charles Community College seeks qualified candidates to join its English Department for the position of two (2) full-time English Faculty starting in the 26-27 academic year, beginning in Fall 2026. Experience teaching composition is especially desirable and will be a significant portion of the selected candidate(s) teaching load. Candidates must have in-person teaching availability.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Faculty are responsible for instruction, grading, record-keeping, and compliance with legal and institutional obligations. Instructors should expect to meet all deadlines and to use standard software, including the Microsoft Office suite, as appropriate. Instructors must conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views:</p> <ul> <li>Impart expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in one's instruction to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities. </li><li>Effectively prepare and present course content, drawing upon disciplinary knowledge, skills, research, and applications to design engaging and effective learning experiences. </li><li>Maintaining the appropriate number of office hours at times of day convenient for students. </li><li>Providing meaningful feedback, and timely responses to students' work and questions. </li><li>Meeting all division, department, and college deadlines: </li><li>Maintaining accurate records of student attendance and reporting attendance as required: </li><li>Keeping careful grade records throughout the academic term: </li><li>Attending scheduled faculty meetings and training sessions: </li><li>Perform ongoing student, program, and college assessment activities, including analysis of course assessments, evaluations, and data to engage in continuous improvement to enhance student success, retention, and completion. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>MA in English (including Literature and/or Creative Writing) or </li><li>At least 18 hours of approved coursework in English (including Literature and/or Creative Writing) </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching first- and second-year students in Composition 1 and 2, particularly those in community college, developmental, or secondary education settings. </li><li>Experience using a Learning Management System (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.). </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in online teaching and are Quality Matters (QM) certified </li></ul> <p>To apply: Interested applicants should submit a cover letter explaining teaching experience and/or philosophy of teaching, resume/curriculum vita, three reference contacts, and a copy of graduate transcripts.</p> <p>Salaries: Instructor $59,481; Assistant Professor $65,523; Associate Professor $72,032 - Rank will be assessed at the time of hire based on years of experience and education based on pre-determined criteria.</p> <p>Priority Deadline: December 1, 2025.
