<p>Serves to support the mission of the College and Student Services by actively recruiting, admitting, advising, and offering on-going support to students from their initial interest to degree completion. From pre-admission to post-graduation, Student Services provides individualized, inclusive, student-centered programming beyond the classroom to bridge the gap between students' goals and achievement. </p> <p>This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with benefits.</p> <p>ADMISSIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Assist perspective students with the Residency Determination Survey and the CFNC Application. </li><li>Assist students with the development of an educational plan. </li><li>Assist with intake of transcripts to complete students' application for admission. </li><li>Evaluate students' transcripts and determine the need for placement testing and/or developmental education. </li><li>Provide basic financial aid, scholarship, and payment plan information to new students. </li><li>Ensure new applicants follow through with registration. Check to see if admissions requirements have been met by working collaboratively with other departments. </li></ul> <p>ACADEMIC ADIVISING:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as support for student registration when faculty advisors cannot be reached, including, but not limited to when faculty are not on contract during the summer term and due to faculty advisors being located at other locations. </li></ul> <p>RETENTION:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Retention Specialist in managing Early Alerts, Caseload contacts, and Academic Action Plans as needed. </li><li>Make appropriate referrals to support services, including career counseling, S.O.A.R. Program, financial aid, Academic Support Center, community agencies, and other resources. </li><li>Advise students who are dropping classes or changing majors. </li><li>Contact students on purge list who are at risk for being dropped for nonpayment as needed. </li><li>Participate in student engagement events that aid in retention. </li></ul> <p>RECRUITMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in recruitment activities throughout the year to promote the college and its program. </li><li>Answer questions from telephone, e-mail, and web inquiries. </li><li>Assist in the maintenance of a working prospect and contact list. </li><li>Utilize Element451 to communicate with all prospective students to facilitate admissions process and follow-up with those who do not respond initially. Maintain notes of the progress toward registration. </li><li>Provide campus tours on request. </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in planning of registration, graduation, and enrollment management efforts. </li><li>Provide support during the curriculum commencement ceremony including assisting with set up and execution of the event. </li><li>Maintain professional and technical knowledge through reading professional publications and attending workshops and conferences as appropriate. </li><li>Provide input and present ideas for marketing efforts and publications, which may include creating, designing, proofing, and printing materials. </li><li>Provide support to faculty members with registration questions. </li><li>Keep up with RISE requirements and changes. </li><li>Maintain an up-to-date understanding of all educational opportunities of the college as to communicate that understanding to faculty, staff, and students in order to execute and improve the quality of the admissions process. </li><li>Maintain cross-training with other Success Advisor and Student Services staff, including providing coverage at the Student Services window. </li><li>Assist the Retention Specialist in maintaining and managing Watermark. </li><li>Assist the Enrollment Specialist in maintaining and managing Element 451. </li><li>Serve on various college committees. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>SPECIFIC TO HEALTH SCIENCES SUCCESS ADVISOR:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as advisor and registers pre-Health Sciences students. </li><li>Maintain PN, ADN, Advanced Placement, and Paramedic to RN program requirements, update as needed under direction of Dean of Health Sciences. </li><li>Advertise application dates for Nursing programs, ensure application and admissions information is posted to website. </li><li>Accept and evaluate applications and all required documents for program eligibility for PN, ADN, AP, and Paramedic to RN programs. </li><li>Notify applicants of accepted/not accepted status-advise to new program accordingly. </li><li>Assist students with RN to BSN requirements. </li><li>Coordinator presentations with area high school Health Sciences Departments. </li><li>Coordinate presentations with Workforce Development feeder programs. </li></ul> <p>Education: Bachelors Degree required.</p> <p>Experience: Experience in advising, teaching, counseling, or support services required; experience in the student services area is preferred.</p> <p>License(s) Required: NC Driver's License</p>
