<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Billing Systems Analyst at Casella Waste Systems plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of customer billing processes. The analyst will develop a comprehensive understanding of Casella's customer types, billing cycles, and invoice delivery methods to efficiently generate and submit invoices. Additionally, this role supports the Manager of Billing & Data Integrity by identifying and correcting billing issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and performing analyses related to customer billing, collections, and accounts receivable.</p> <p>Hiring Range: From $52,000 - $67,000 per year</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Billing Management:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the department manager in optimizing billing processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency. </li><li>Generate customer invoices across multiple billing systems, ensuring timely and precise billing details and invoice delivery. </li><li>Collaborate with operations, customer care, IT, finance, and shared services departments to resolve billing and payment-related inquiries. </li><li>Complete detailed reports comparing billed invoices and collected revenue. </li><li>Research aged receivables and present corrective action plans to management. </li><li>Coordinate with accounts receivable, accounting, and collections teams on delinquent accounts. </li></ul> <p>Data Integrity:</p> <ul> <li>Uphold data quality standards within the department and field operations to ensure accurate and reliable financial and operational data. </li><li>Participate in regular audits and validations to identify and rectify inconsistencies or errors. </li><li>Support the integration of new and acquired systems, maintaining data integrity standards throughout implementation. </li><li>Partner with the Manager of Billing Systems Administration to create a playbook and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for acquisition integration, ensuring seamless customer transitions into Casella's billing systems. </li><li>Analyze discrepancies in billing records and recommend changes to improve accounting system efficiency. </li></ul> <p>System Optimization:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with IT and finance teams to optimize and consolidate billing systems and data management tools. </li><li>Identify opportunities for automation and implement technological solutions to streamline billing processes and enhance data accuracy. </li></ul> <p>Reporting and Analysis:</p> <ul> <li>Generate and analyze billing reports to track key metrics and identify trends. </li><li>Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting billing performance and data integrity metrics. </li><li>Provide actionable insights through data analysis to support informed decision-making. </li></ul> <p>Compliance and Regulations:</p> <ul> <li>Stay current on industry regulations and compliance standards related to billing and data management. </li><li>Ensure that Casella's billing practices meet all legal and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Organize documents to support audit requests. </li></ul> <p>Career Path: Casella is committed to fostering employee growth and development. The career path for this role includes the following progression:</p> <p>Billing Analyst I (1-3 years).</p> <p>Role: Develops foundational knowledge of business flow and billing schedules for assigned systems. Effectively generates invoices with accuracy under direct supervision while building expertise.</p> <p>Qualifications: Associate degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience. Demonstrates basic knowledge of billing systems and processes.</p> <p>Billing Analyst II (3-5 years):</p> <p>Role: Demonstrates thorough understanding of all billing systems and the business needs of stakeholders. Independently runs accurate billing cycles and actively contributes to improving systems and processes.</p> <p>Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Significant knowledge and ability to manage billing cycles for assigned areas without supervision.</p> <p>Senior Billing Analyst (5+ years):</p> <p>Role: Operates independently across all billing systems, ensuring seamless and accurate execution of billing processes. Trains new team members, leads system migrations, and integrates acquisition customer data.</p> <p>Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in billing and accounting. Strong leadership skills and ability to handle complex system integrations and optimizations.</p> <p>Education, Experience & Qualifications</p> <p>The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field, 3-4 years of experience in billing management, ideally in a utility or field services business, a strong knowledge of billing systems, data management tools and financial sofware are a must. Experience in acquisition integration, demonstrating successful incorporation of billing processes post-merger or acquisition and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment and be legally eligible to work in the US. Experience or interest in an environmental and/or sustainability field is preferred.</p> <p>Exceptional relationship management skills and excellent listening, communication, and problem solving skills are required. An ability to identify and develop new solutions and proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications are preferred.</p> <p>Attributes</p> <p>Intuitive individual who is a self-starter, with high attention to detail, can multitask, can maintain a high level of productivity at all times and is results-oriented with the ability to see the larger picture while focusing on detailed information.</p>
