<p>Provide assistance to students with course selections, vocational options, personal and group counseling, the college application process, and the developmental group counseling program. Coordinate guidance program with staff, administrators, and parents.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>1.Assist students in course and subject selection and provide information on tutors and summer programs as required. 2.Obtain and disseminate college financial aid and occupational information to students, classes and parents. 3.Provide personal counseling and assist students with decision making related to school-related needs. 4.Assist students in evaluating their aptitude and abilities through the interpretation of individual standardized test scores and other pertinent data, and work with students in developing educational, career and occupational plans. 5.Work with administrators to facilitate scheduling, testing and student information programs. 6.Provide instruction to students in the department's developmental counseling program as assigned. 7.Participate in developmental guidance seminar program. 8.Consult with outside mental health agencies and related professionals. 9.Serve as member a member of Student Support Team, Academic Support Team and Special Education Evaluation Team. 10.Gather and record appropriate student information for the Special Education Evaluation process. 11.Register new students and orient them in the school and its procedures. 12.Support school/system-wide programs such as peer tutoring, mediation and crisis intervention. 13.Advise administration and faculty on discipline matters and assist with interventions to improve behavior. 14.Work with students to resolve school-related personal problems involving health and emotional adjustment. 15.Interpret and support school's mission, core values and goals to parents and community. 16.Intervene promptly with drop-out prevention strategies. 17.Assist in the scheduling and transition of sixth graders entering grade seven and eighth graders entering grade nine. 18.Maintain student records and protect confidentiality. 19.Prepare student reports and recommendations in a timely manner. 20.Develop and maintain a positive network of college admissions contacts. 21.Supervise the preparation and processing of school awards, college scholarships and employment applications. 22.Make recommendations for college admissions and for scholarships and assist students in application process. 23.Maintain access and ongoing positive communication and availability with parents. 24.Maintain currency in the profession through relevant professional development activities and participation in school-wide professional committees and activities. 25.Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee.</p>
