<p>The Registered Nurse - Suicide Prevention Coordinator provides comprehensive nursing care to patients at risk of suicide that may have co-morbid medical and mental health conditions. They collaborate with inpatient and outpatient health care professionals to provide direct and indirect patient management for patients at risk of suicide.</p> <p>The Registered Nurse - Suicide Prevention Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in practice based on conscious, deliberate planning and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex patient situations.</p> <p>Major Duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Consider all characteristics of the individual, including gender and role identification, age, life stage, state of health, race, culture, socio-economic status, values and beliefs in order to assist each patient with the improvement of his/her health status to the maximum potential. </li><li>Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients at risk of suicide that may have comorbid medical and mental health conditions. </li><li>Provide direct and indirect patient management for patients at risk of suicide including but not limited to implementation of alerts for high -risk patients and developing safety plans. </li><li>Use the nursing process to promote health and achievement of treatment goals including collaborating with the multidisciplinary team. </li><li>Serve as a clinical resource and consultant to nursing staff, administrative staff, and other health care providers in the care of patients at risk of suicide. </li><li>Identify an issue, analyze it, and develop and implement interventions. </li><li>Provide care in a non-judgmental, nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to the adult or elderly patient and family's diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights. </li><li>Initiates referrals to other disciplines and/or services as appropriate. </li><li>All other duties as assigned, pertaining to this occupation, to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service. </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>Work Schedule: Full-Time. Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm.</p> <p>Telework: May be available. Telework ad-hoc may be approved based on Agency policy.</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized.</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized.</p>
