<p>At the City of Plymouth, we all work together to add quality to life. We are seeking candidates who are eager to adopt and champion our mission and values.</p> <p>The Public Safety Analyst will manage, analyze and disseminate various types of data collected by the public safety department; including crimes, calls for service, and any other data collected and maintained. Work with other city departments and the community to help identify trends, patterns and other problem areas as requested. Disseminate information in accordance with data practices guidelines and assist in the process of developing strategies to address identified problems.</p> <p>Analyze and disseminate crime data and calls for service.</p> <ul> <li>Research and analyze data, assist in identifying and interpreting criminal activity, patterns and trends by reviewing calls for service, arrests and other data. </li><li>Collaborate with command staff to define information requirements, implement new data collection initiatives, and develop data visualizations to support strategic decision-making. </li><li>Create and maintain databases for department data and statistics. </li><li>Use computer databases, publishing, spreadsheets, word processing and statistical applications to analyze and present data. </li><li>Develop profiles of known offenders and arrestees through multiple databases to establish their methods of operation, location and criminal relationships. </li><li>Analyze crime trends, crime patterns and use GIS mapping to identify and direct targeted enforcement activities in conjunction with department supervisors. </li><li>Utilize the department's social media to enhance the department's availability to solve crimes and share critical information in a timely manner. </li><li>Leverage technological solutions to integrate intelligence and data driven analysis into daily police operations. </li><li>Review various data resources to assist in proactive and targeted investigations as well as preventative enforcement. </li><li>Manage casework responsibilities, including evidence follow-up and the completion of detailed written police reports. </li><li>Provide on-site support during the execution of search warrants, including evidence processing, packaging, and documentation. </li><li>Monitor real-time criminal threats to our community and specific events as needed. </li><li>Act as a liaison to all neighboring law enforcement agencies. </li><li>Attend regional meetings of law enforcement personnel to collect and share information on crime series, patterns, new methodologies and developing tools. </li><li>Prepare routine and comprehensive written reports and makes clear oral presentations upon request. </li><li>Collaborate with IT to receive, install and configure systems as required. </li><li>Compile case materials and court exhibits in preparation for potential legal proceedings and testimony. </li></ul> <p>Support department efforts by utilizing digital forensics.</p> <ul> <li>Create databases, timelines and link charts for analysis, extracting and verifying pertinent information, manage and organize information, provide leads, mine data, proactively target for further investigation. </li><li>Assist patrol and investigators on the availability and reliability of digital evidence. </li><li>Provide staff with real-time intelligence during critical incidents. </li><li>Assist in dissemination of tri-county alerts; review alerts from other agencies to determine relevance. </li><li>Use computer software to evaluate, compare and identify, and document evidence. </li></ul> <p>Maintain effective relationships with others.</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate a full understanding of - and respect for - the diversity of the community, co-workers, and supervisors, including individuals with disabilities or whose first language may not be English. </li><li>Interact with others in a manner that is professional and inspires open communication. </li><li>Help to create and maintain a respectful workplace culture and champions inclusion and belonging. </li><li>Participate in citywide training designed to strengthen competencies in areas such as communications, leadership, decision-making and problem solving. </li><li>Provide exceptional customer service to residents, business owners and visitors. </li></ul> <p>Perform a variety of related work assignments as apparent or assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Any combination of training, education, or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, police administration or a related field with an emphasis on data analysis.</p> </li><li> <p>Two years of related experience providing technical support, analytics or working in a related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Be available for callbacks on nights and weekends.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to perform in accordance with the City of Plymouth's CIVIC values (customer focus, integrity, visionary, inclusion and connection) and comfort with supporting and advancing the city council's strategic priorities.</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced technical proficiency with MS Office suite and related systems. </p> </li><li> <p>Ability to think critically, synthesize large amounts of information, and work in a fast-paced environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, and to large groups.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to enter data and type with speed and accuracy.</p> </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Advanced related education, certification and/or experience </li><li>Experience in a similarly situated community and with law enforcement functions. </li><li>Knowledge of statutes regarding Minnesota's Data Practices Act. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>This position will frequently require sitting, handling objects (grasping, turning or otherwise using hands or hands), repetitive hand motion, and stationary desk or bench work with neck bent forward. </li><li>This position will occasionally require standing, walking, lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying, climbing, kneeling (bending leg at knee and resting on knee), crawling (moving about on hands and knees), crouching (bending at knees), bending at waist, reaching (extending hands and arms in any direction), use of arm muscles over extended periods, use of leg muscles over extended periods, and overhead work (over shoulder height). </li><li>The employee must be able to lift items from 0 - 10 pounds from 0 - 6 feet and carry 0-50 feet. Employee must be able to carry items such as files and other paperwork. </li></ul>
