<p>Duties</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <ul> <li>Develops and administers a program which reflects the individual needs of the school. </li><li>Develops appropriate policies for an effective and efficient operation. </li><li>Utilizes materials and equipment to meet individual differences and abilities. </li><li>Has a thorough knowledge of print and digital resources and provides guidance in their use. </li><li>Helps teach media skills to students and helps students develop research, information literacy, and digital skills. </li><li>Helps students develop an appreciation for reading for information and for pleasure by using both print, nonprint, and digital resources. </li><li>Supports school literacy initiatives and reading programs and provides readers' advisory for students and staff. </li><li>Administers efficient workspaces for individual, small group, and whole class reading, viewing, listening, and creating. </li><li>Selects, organizes, distributes, and promotes a general collection of print, nonprint, and digital materials and equipment to meet the needs of the education system and follows Material Selection Guidelines. </li><li>Assists staff and students in obtaining print, nonprint, and digital resources, including interlibrary loan of material. </li><li>Maintains a physically attractive and pleasant environment conducive to study and research. </li><li>Evaluates the collection on a regular basis using Material Withdrawal / Weeding Guidelines. </li><li>Maintains a schedule of library activities which is consistent, yet flexible. </li><li>Catalogs, processes, circulates, promotes, and repairs materials promptly and efficiently, using current technology and consistent standards. </li><li>Plans and prepares a library budget. </li><li>Establishes and maintains a system of inventorying and accounting for all library materials. </li><li>Maintains the library's computer/multimedia/digital resources and communicates with technicians to resolve technical issues. </li><li>Collaborates with and supports classroom teachers in the preparation, presentation, and execution of units or assignments that utilize information resources. </li><li>Participates as a learner and teacher in district wide meetings, in-service, and committees; participates in educational and professional activities and associations. </li><li>Assists in the supervision of the library staff and in the selection and supervision of student assistants. </li><li>Interacts with students in a situationally appropriate manner. </li><li>Holds students responsible for behavior. </li><li>Reacts to students' behavior consistently. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Proper IL PEL for Library Media Specialist</p> <p>Salary/Benefits</p> <p>Regionally exceptional pay.
