<p>At the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital, the Psychologist I (Post-doctoral Psychologist-in-training) plays an essential role in delivering compassionate, evidence-based mental health care in a collaborative, recovery-oriented environment. Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, this position offers recent doctoral graduates the opportunity to develop and refine clinical competencies in psychological assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, and both individual and group psychotherapy. As part of a multidisciplinary team, this role is instrumental in shaping individualized treatment plans and guiding residents on their path toward greater emotional well-being and community integration.</p> <p>This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for early-career psychologists seeking advanced training in a dynamic public mental health setting. As part of the Department of Mental Health, the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is committed to fostering an inclusive, learning-focused environment where post-doctoral psychologists can grow into confident, skilled professionals prepared to meet the complex needs of those they serve.</p> <p>Please Note: This is a temporary position, 40 hours per week, to cover an employee on sick leave. The duration of this position will cease when this position is no longer required. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):</p> <ul> <li>Conduct psychological assessments and psychodiagnostic evaluations, including clinical interviews, standardized testing, and collateral information gathering, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist </li><li>Provide individual and group psychotherapy to diverse populations, using evidence-based interventions to address emotional, behavioral, and psychological concerns. </li><li>Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans as a member of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring alignment with clinical goals and patient needs. </li><li>Deliver crisis intervention services by assessing risk and providing immediate therapeutic support or referrals for individuals experiencing acute psychological distress. </li><li>Participate in case consultations, treatment team meetings, and clinical rounds to support integrated care planning and decision-making. </li><li>Maintain comprehensive clinical documentation, including assessment reports, treatment progress notes, and psychological test results, in accordance with regulatory standards. </li><li>Engage in training and professional development activities, including attendance at seminars, workshops, and in-service sessions, to enhance clinical knowledge and skills. </li><li>Educate and collaborate with families, guardians, and community stakeholders to support treatment continuity and coordination of care. </li><li>Assist in orienting new staff and trainees, and contribute to the clinical learning environment through case discussions and knowledge sharing. </li><li>Research and apply current psychological methodologies and best practices, and provide consultation to external agencies such as schools, courts, and social service organizations. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology. </li><li>Strong foundation in administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological assessments, including cognitive, personality, and diagnostic measures. </li><li>Demonstrated experience providing psychotherapy and clinical interventions to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. </li><li>Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care principles in public mental health settings. </li><li>Familiarity with multidisciplinary treatment team collaboration and integrated care models. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clinical documentation and professional presentations. </li><li>Cultural competence and experience working with diverse populations, including marginalized and underserved communities. </li><li>Ability to manage clinical crises with sound judgment, maintaining calm and professionalism under pressure. </li><li>Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for clinical documentation and case management. </li><li>Strong commitment to ethical practice, continuous learning, and ongoing professional development in psychology. </li></ul> <p>About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital:</p> <p>The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) opened October 2012. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.</p> <p>Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines.
