<p>Description</p> <p>Join Our Team as the Human Resources Leaves Specialist!</p> <p>The Human Resources (HR) Specialist - Leaves is part of the Benefits & Leaves team and is a paraprofessional level position that performs complex and specialized work with a considerable degree of independent judgment and decision-making.</p> <p>About the Role</p> <p>As a Leaves Specialist, you will perform paraprofessional and technical duties in coordinating county leave benefits, responding to employee inquiries, compiling reports, and providing support to the Leaves Supervisor. The Leaves Specialist will handle day to day leave administration for our 2,200+ benefits-eligible employees.The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and fun environment. The values represent who we are, how we serve, and how we treat everyone.</p> <p>Racial Equity - We challenge systems to interrupt racism as described in Policy 1.06 - Fully Inclusive Anti-Racist, & Multicultural Organization.</p> <p>inclusivity - Weinvitemultipleperspectivestocreateconnection.</p> <p>Partnership-Weengageourcolleaguestocreatemutualsupportandcollaboration.</p> <p>Impact - Weprovideaccurateandtimelyservice.</p> <p>Integrity - Weapproachall wedowithtransparency,humility,and ethicalbehavior.</p> <p>Fun-We havefunwhileworkinghard.</p> <p>Learn-Wecreateopportunitiesforcontinuousimprovementandeducation.</p> <p>Empower- We provide resources for people to thrive.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ul> <li>Daily administration of our various leave programs such as FMLA, Caregiver Leave, Military Leave, and other applicable state and federal leave laws (ex: FAMLI). </li><li>Communicates with employees concerning leave policies, answering leaves and benefits questions, and acting as a liaison with outside leave administrator regarding claims issues. </li><li>Accurate and timely processing of employee leaves within our HRIS system, monitoring accurate reporting from our leaves vendor, and researching and correcting discrepancies as necessary. </li><li>Ensure timecards reflect accurate leave pay codes for monthly payroll. </li><li>May assist with annual open enrollment activities and other benefit enrollment tasks. </li><li>May help update training materials and conduct benefits meetings/trainings to explain benefits and enroll employees into appropriate programs. </li><li>Collaborates with leave vendor, county IT, Benefits team, and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) team to ensure accurate data exchanges of employee eligibility file feeds and file interface upgrades. </li><li>Responds to inquiries related to leave entitlements, eligibility requirements, and return-to-work processes. </li><li>Maintains accurate records and documentation related to leave requests, approvals, and outcomes. </li><li>Partners with Benefits team members to integrate leave management with broader benefits administration processes and initiatives. </li><li>Helps administer County's Short- and Long-Term Disability programs, including communications to employee, department, and county Payroll. </li><li>May coordinate life insurance claims with beneficiaries and the insurance vendor. </li><li>Provides support to the Leaves Supervisor, Benefits and Leaves teams, and the Human Resources Manager assigned to Benefits. </li><li>Performs related work, as required. </li><li>May be reassigned in emergency situations. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>PLEASE NOTE:When completing your application, please describe all relevant education and experience as applications are assessed based on the listed qualifications. Resumes and attachments will not be reviewed in the initial screening process.As part of our equitable hiring process, personally identifiable information (PII) will be redacted from applications forwarded to the hiring manager.</p> <p>Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of a high school diploma </li><li>A minimum of three years of clerical and technical experience in working with employees benefits and/or leaves. </li><li>Related education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. </li></ul> <p>Work Conditions</p> <p>This is a full-time, benefitted position that works primarily remote with an average of one day per month in-office with onsite options in Longmont, Lafayette, and Boulder. This position will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, with some flexibility possible regarding schedule. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).</p> <p>Pre-Employment Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must pass a conditional post-offer background check. </li><li>Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work. </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with UKG Dimensions HRIS system </li><li>Experience with in-house administration of leave management </li><li>Bilingual in English and Spanish </li><li>Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Thorough knowledge of FMLA, Military Leave, and other applicable state and federal leave laws (ex: FAMLI). </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. </li><li>Proficiency in operating computers with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint), and other pertinent office equipment. </li><li>Experience with UKG Dimensions HRIS system (preferred). </li><li>Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to accuracy and compliance. </li><li>Experience with in-house administration of leave management (preferred). </li><li>Culturally responsive with the ability to provide outstanding customer service and work effectively with employees of varying levels, vendors, carriers, brokers, and members of the public. </li><li>Ability to enforce established regulations, procedures, and policy. </li><li>Ability to effectively manage time to meet deadlines. </li><li>Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with highly sensitive data and information. </li><li>Organizational and analytical skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote working environment. </li></ul> <p>Tentative Hiring Timeline</p> <ul> <li>Phone Screening - Week of April 20th </li><li>First Round Interviews - Week of April 27th </li><li>Second Round Interviews - Week of May 4th </li><li>Language proficiency testing (if applicable) - Week of May 4th </li><li>Reference Check - Week of May 4th </li></ul> <p>Boulder County is a workplace dedicated to supporting individuals and families of all types and to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful environment for all employees.
