<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Greenwich Public Schools seeks a 0.8 FTE long-term substitute Spanish teacher to teach grades 3-5 Spanish at Parkway Elementary School and one or more other GPS elementary schools from approximately January 20, 2026, through approximately June 30, 2026; the position carries full salary and benefits for the duration of the assignment. Individuals interested in part-time work less than 0.8 FTE are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Position Purpose</p> <p>The ideal candidate will understand the growth and development of the elementary school child, be able to plan and deliver grades K-5 Spanish lessons accordingly, and help students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Helps elementary school students develop oral and literacy skills aligned to the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages and to District curriculum. </li><li>Plans and organizes instruction in ways that maximize student learning. </li><li>Modifies, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. </li><li>Uses technology, where appropriate, to deliver instruction and assessment. </li><li>Evaluates student performance consistent with District standards. </li><li>Maintains accurate records. </li><li>Works collaboratively with District and school colleagues to support students' linguistic needs in Spanish. </li><li>Participates in professional learning. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, in both English and the target language. </li><li>Effective, active listening skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others. </li><li>Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Experience working with elementary school students preferred. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Profile</p> <ul> <li>CT State Certification, or certifiability, in Spanish, Grades 7-12 (#023) or in elementary education required </li></ul> <p>Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
