Verifies and makes corrections and additions to structural details </li><li>Calculates estimated quantities of materials required for contract bidding, construction, and project costs </li><li>Communicates with designers to ensure structural drawings comply with engineering computations </li><li>Recommends minor adjustments in design to achieve simplicity and constructability </li><li>Utilizes trigonometry, algebra, and geometry to calculate reinforcing steel lengths and laps, girder piece lengths, cross-frame lengths, gusset plate dimensions, etc. </li><li>Participates in the review of drafting standards </li><li>Participates in technician meetings to review detailing standards </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of drafting principles, practices, standards, and office policies that relate to structural detailing </li><li>Understanding of the practical applications of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry </li><li>Skilled in the use of computer-aided design and drafting software (Microstation and AutoCAD), word processing (Word or WordPerfect), and spreadsheet (Excel or Quattro Pro) computer applications </li><li>Ability to produce clean, legible, and organized work </li><li>Ability to give attention to details and work under pressure </li><li>Ability to work well with others </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Associate's Degree (typically in Physical Science)</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Transportation) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Design Assistant</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Education & Experience Substitution:</p> <p>2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Transportation) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Design Assistant</p> <p>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:</p> <p>None</p> <p>Necessary Special Requirements</p> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>This position takes place in an average work environment. </li></ul> <p>NOTES:</p> <ul> <li> <p>FLSA: Non-Exempt</p> </li><li> <p>The Wyoming Department of Transportation is a Drug-Free Workplace.</p> </li><li> <p>E-Verify: WYDOT uses E-Verify, an Internet-based system, to confirm the eligibility of all newly hired employees to work in the United States.
