<p>Position Overview</p> <p>The College of Education (COE) at Butler University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointment in Higher Education/Student Affairs (HESA) with an expected start date of August 2025. The successful candidate will primarily develop and teach online courses in HESA and serve as the initial program director. The first year of this role will be devoted to course development and administrative tasks such as recruitment, policy development, and admissions in advance of the first courses being offered in fall 2026. The fully online program aims to be the first of its kind to center well-being throughout the curriculum and offer students opportunities to learn from and engage with professionals from the Institute for Well-Being at Butler University. The position is located at Butler University in Indianapolis and requires regular on-campus work, but candidates residing in other locales may be considered.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Teach 9-12 credit hours of fully online courses during the fall and spring semesters and a variable number of credits each summer for additional compensation </li><li>Serve as the program director for an initial term of 3 years and coordinate aspects of the program such as recruitment, admissions, retention, assessment, course scheduling, faculty supervision, etc. </li><li>Develop and/or adapt courses for online delivery </li><li>Advise students regarding academic and fieldwork requirements </li><li>In partnership with the COE Field Placement Coordinator, identify and establish partnerships with appropriate practicum sites and supervise students during those experiences </li><li>Partner with other University divisions such as the Institute for Well-Being and Office of Student Affairs on multiple aspects of the program </li><li>Provide service to the COE, University, and professional community </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree from an accredited university in higher education or student affairs administration or a closely related discipline by contract start date </li><li>Significant professional experience in the practice of HESA </li><li>Understanding of best/emerging practices and professional competencies in HESA </li><li>Experience with online education </li><li>Experience teaching, supervising, or otherwise engaging with graduate students in HESA or related fields </li><li>Demonstrated skill in communication, collaboration, and fostering collegiality </li><li>Demonstrated record of success with project management, new program development, and/or department administration </li><li>Knowledge and experience to support learners from a variety of backgrounds with strong, student-centered instructional methods and alignment with the COE Shared Commitments and the mission of Butler University </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications</p> <p>While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in higher education or student affairs administration or a closely related discipline by contract start date </li><li>Experience and interest in developing courses for online delivery </li><li>Significant coursework and/or commensurate experience in student well-being </li><li>Evidence of commitment and action towards diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational settings </li></ul> <p>To apply, candidates must submit:</p> <ul> <li>A letter of application outlining qualifications and interest in the position </li><li>Curriculum vitae </li><li>Names, contact information, and roles of three professional references who can speak to the candidate's excellence as an educator </li></ul> <p>Screening of applicants will begin March 31, 2025, and continue until the position is filled.
