At the discretion of the hiring department, this position posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.</p> <p>Salary Range: up to $40,000- $43,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.</p> <p>Hours: Full-time fixed-term track, 4-4 teaching load.</p> <p>Required Application Materials:</p> <ul> <li>CV/Resume and Cover letter are required. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching at The University of Texas at San Antonio seeks an Assistant Professor of Practice to:</p> <ul> <li>Teach middle grades and/or secondary literacy courses in the ILT department. </li><li>Collaborate with literacy faculty on program initiatives. </li><li>Revise and develop course syllabi for literacy courses in middle grades and secondary programs. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to schedule and align courses in middle grades and secondary programs. </li><li>Represent the literacy program in middle grades and secondary certification meetings. </li><li>Support the ILT department through service (e.g., recruitment efforts, committees). </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of 3 years experience teaching literacy at the middle school or secondary level. </li><li>Current teacher or principal certification. </li><li>A master's degree in literacy education or a related field. </li><li>Knowledge of literacy research and pedagogy in middle and secondary level classrooms. </li><li>This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>PhD or EdD in literacy education or a related field. </li><li>Experience teaching in higher education. </li><li>Ongoing contribution to the field of literacy and/or educational research. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <ul> <li>UTSA is a tobacco free campus. </li><li>This is a security sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check. </li><li>Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Primary work location will be on campus/Remote (Main campus/Downtown). </li></ul> <p>This position will require working both remotely in Texas and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
