Learn more about the benefits of joining Team UES and our core values at careers.teamues.com.</em></p> <p>Summary</p> <p>We are seeking a qualified Asbestos Technician to join our environmental services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting asbestos inspections, surveys, air monitoring, abatement oversight, and performing soil and groundwater sampling and inspections, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate must have prior experience with sampling protocols in compliance with FDEP regulations.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform field inspections and surveys for asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in commercial, residential, and industrial settings.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct air monitoring and project oversight during asbestos abatement and remediation activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Collect and document soil and groundwater samples in accordance with FDEP and EPA guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all sampling and reporting activities comply with FDEP procedures, including completion of field logs, chain-of-custody forms, and photo documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate and maintain field equipment, including air pumps, PID meters, and groundwater sampling tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Interpret laboratory results and contribute to technical reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain safety and regulatory compliance on job sites.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with project managers and environmental staff on site assessments and remedial investigations.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties may be assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria).</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to pass a background check screening by Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification).</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma or equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>2-3 years of relevant field experience in asbestos sampling and abatement oversight.</p> </li><li> <p>AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector certification and current asbestos and lead-based paint certifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with environmental sampling methods, including soil and groundwater, and associated data collection practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, FDEP, OSHA, etc.).</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Well-organized, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player.</p> </li><li> <p>Physically able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including walking long distances and lifting field equipment.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field</p> </li><li> <p>CPR/First Aid certification</p> </li><li> <p>OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification</p> </li><li> <p>Scuba diving certification (for aquatic fieldwork)</p> </li><li> <p>Drone pilot certification (for aerial mapping)</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with GIS software a plus.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands & Work Environment</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity</p> </li><li> <p>Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting required during fieldwork</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to lift and carry equipment and samples weighing up to fifty pounds</p> </li><li> <p>Must be comfortable working in remote locations, uneven terrain, wetlands, construction sites, or near water bodies</p> </li><li> <p>May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety vests, gloves, and respirators</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional climbing, crawling, or entering confined spaces may be required</p> </li><li> <p>Fieldwork may involve exposure to dust, chemicals, and biological hazards, with appropriate safety precautions in place</p> </li><li> <p>Extended periods of computer use and report writing in an office or remote setting when not in the field</p> </li><li> <p>Travel to project sites using a company vehicle may be required</p> </li></ul> <p>Who We Are</p> <p>UES is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is proud to recruit the most qualified candidates.
