The Center's faculty, staff, and community members work to address differences in rates of obesity, diabetes, cancers, and cardiovascular disease.</p> <p>The term "health disparities" refers to the unequal distribution of health outcomes, illness, disease, suffering, and death. ENC consists of the 41-county region east of Interstate 95 (pink areas). Health in ENC is significantly poorer than health in the rest of North Carolina, and health in the ENC-29 counties (dark pink) is the poorest of all.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>The Center for Health Disparities is seeking applicants for a temporary part-time Research Assistant (RA) position to support ongoing research at the Center. The RA will assist with key aspects of a study on the intergenerational health effects of Camp Lejeune water contamination, including:</p> <ul> <li>Data collection and management </li><li>Interviewing families affected by the water contamination </li><li>Analyzing and interpreting data </li><li>Preparing manuscripts for journal publication </li><li>Submitting abstracts for professional conferences </li><li>Preparing materials for grant proposals </li></ul> <p>Work hours and schedule will be negotiated.</p> <p>Temporary position lasting 12 weeks from the hire date.</p> <p>Minimum Education/Experience</p> <p>Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.</p> <p>License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education</p> <ul> <li>Experience in statistical analyses using SAS, SPSS, R, Excel, or similar analytical programs is preferred. </li><li>Experience in social/behavioral research. </li></ul> <p>License or Certification Required by the Department Special Instructions to Applicant</p> <ul> <li>Please ensure your full range of knowledge, skills, abilities, experience and education are listed on your application.
