<p>Embedded Peer Tutor (Part-time Student Employee)</p> <p>Department: Academic Achievement Center</p> <p>Location: Wellesley Hills</p> <p>MassBay fosters educational excellence and academic success to prepare students for local and global citizenship, to meet critical workforce demands of communities, and to contribute to the region's economic development.</p> <p>Massachusetts Bay Community College values diversity, inclusion, and collaboration. We strongly encourage members of underrepresented communities to apply to join our community.</p> <p>Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population. This is a part-time, student employment position with no benefits. An Embedded Peer Tutor will attend the course, facilitate study groups and may meet with students individually to provide direct instruction.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Attend all class meetings (including labs) for the course/section you are supporting; </li><li>Plan and facilitate two one-hour study sessions per week based the availability and needs of students enrolled in the course; </li><li>Attend Embedded Peer Tutor trainings; </li><li>Lead individual appointments; </li><li>Inform direct supervisors of session meeting times and locations; </li><li>Track student attendance for study sessions; </li><li>Assist students in developing time management, communication, and study skills to promote academic success within the course; </li><li>Maintain consistent communication with your direct supervisors; </li><li>Assist students in navigating College systems and understanding course expectations; </li><li>Help students in locating and submitting assignments; </li><li>Provide support to students through WebEx, Zoom, email, or on-campus meetings; </li><li>Be aware of and advocate for the other resources and services provided at MassBay Community College; </li><li>Model appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty, and students; </li><li>Complete other tasks as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Commitment to Equity:</p> <ul> <li>Support MassBay's commitment to the Equity Agenda; </li><li>Support MassBay's commitment to being anti-racist; embracing a community free of bias and inequality; </li><li>Engage in conversations with the community regarding best practices within the discipline or programmatic related to equity and inclusion. </li></ul> <p>This list is not to be considered all-inclusive.
