This is done alongside our collaborative agreements with Boston's teaching hospitals which include surgeons from Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, and Oncologic services through Dana Farber Cancer Institute. South Shore Health also acts as a training location for the local Nurse Anesthesia programs and is invested in training the future of nurse anesthesia.</p> <p>Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are advanced practice nurses responsible for administering anesthesia and monitoring patients during surgeries and other medical procedures. Due to their specialized skill set, they are experts in critical care and airway management.</p> <p>Provide pre-anesthetic preparation and patient evaluation.</p> <p>Ensure patient identification and obtains appropriate health history.</p> <p>Recommend, requests, and evaluates pertinent diagnostic studies.</p> <p>Document pre-anesthetic evaluation.</p> <p>Obtain informed consent for anesthesia.</p> <p>Select prepares and administers anesthetic agents or other agents administered in management of anesthetic care.</p> <p>Effectively communicate with anesthesiologist and/or surgeon of changes in patient's condition.</p> <p>Provide anesthesia induction, maintenance, emergence, and post anesthesia care.</p> <p>Insert invasive line catheter/devices.</p> <p>Perform tracheal intubation and extubation, airway management.</p> <p>Provide mechanical ventilation.</p> <p>Perform venous and arterial punctures.</p> <p>Obtain blood samples. Performs and manages regional anesthetic.</p> <p>Manage patient's fluid, blood, electrolyte and acid base balance.</p> <p>Provide perianesthetic invasive and non-invasive monitoring utilizing current standards and techniques.</p> <p>Recognize and treat cardiac dysrhythmias through use of perianesthetic electrocardiogram monitoring.</p> <p>Evaluate patient response during emergence from anesthesia.</p> <p>Institute pharmacological or supportive treatment to insure adequacy of patient recovery from anesthesia and adjuvant drugs.</p> <p>Provide post anesthesia follow-up, report, and evaluation of patient's response to anesthesia and for potential anesthetic complication.</p> <p>May perform patient care to the extent necessary to maintain clinical expertise, competency and licensing necessary to fulfill job responsibilities and to direct the provision of care on the unit.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in nursing or relevant undergraduate degree.</p> <p>RN License required.</p> <p>Graduate of accredited nurse anesthesia program.</p> <p>Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) required</p> <p>Valid state APRN Recognition preferred</p> <p>ACLS</p> <p>BLS</p> <p>PALS preferred, not required.</p> <p>Skilled in airway management techniques and chronic pain management.</p> <p>Must possess superb communication and interpersonal skills.</p> <p>Solid understanding of current anesthesia practices and techniques.</p> <p>Strong patient assessment skills</p> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication, written communication, interpersonal relations, customer service, adaptability, and change management</p> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing PC applications</p> <p>Full time, Part time, and per diem positions available.
