<p>Position Summary & Description</p> <p>This position is posted in accordance with the (SCUPA) Collective Bargaining Unit.</p> <p>Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for a Temporary Residence Life Coordinator (SUA1).</p> <p>The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) plays a vital role in fostering a supportive, engaging, and inclusive residential environment at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). By supervising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate staff, the RLC ensures that students receive personalized guidance, timely support during crises, and opportunities for leadership and growth. Through intentional programming, student advocacy, and crisis response, the RLC contributes to student well-being, academic success, and retention. The RLC also plays a key part in maintaining safe, efficient, and welcoming residence halls, aligning with IUP's strategic priorities and commitment to student development. Ultimately, the RLC's work strengthens the sense of community and belonging within the residential experience, helping students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.</p> <p>This is a temporary position anticipated to begin in August 2025 through July 31, 2027.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES: A detailed description of the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.</p> <p>Supervision & Leadership (50%)</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and mentor two to three Graduate Hall Directors (GHDs), providing regular feedback, individualized coaching, and development planning. </li><li>Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating both graduate and undergraduate residence life staff. </li></ul> <p>On-Call & Crisis Response (15%)</p> <ul> <li>Organize and participate in a rotating on-call schedule with GHDs, maintaining a professional presence during high-impact periods. </li><li>Respond to emergencies, including mental health crises, community standards issues, and facilities concerns. </li><li>Coach GHDs in crisis response, offering real-time guidance and facilitating post-incident reflection. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between in-hall staff and relevant parties, ensuring timely follow-up on incidents, student concerns, and conduct issues to support student well-being and retention. </li><li>Mediate on-campus student conflicts. </li></ul> <p>Training & Student Leadership Development (15%)</p> <ul> <li>Lead winter training for Resident Assistants (RAs), aligning with IUP's strategic plan, Presidential Goals, Student Affairs Student Outcomes, and student development objectives. </li><li>Advise campus organizations like the Residence Hall Association (RHA), National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), and Rho Alpha Sigma. </li><li>Provide structure and guidance to Residence Hall Councils and student leaders involved in governance and advocacy. </li><li>Coordinate leadership development programs and retreats for student staff. </li></ul> <p>Programming & Engagement (10%)</p> <ul> <li>Implement a residential programming model with a blend of social, educational, and community-focused events. </li><li>Coach RAs on program development, execution, and evaluation. </li><li>Align programming efforts with student success and retention goals, collaborating with campus partners on wellness, academic success, and identity-based programming. </li></ul> <p>Organizational Responsibilities (10%)</p> <ul> <li>Co-direct residence hall openings and closings, including semester breaks, ensuring efficient processes and clear communication for students and staff. </li><li>Lead health and safety inspections for assigned residential areas, ensuring compliance with university policies and safety standards. </li><li>Support the development and implementation of departmental processes and procedures to enhance consistency and efficiency in residence life operations. </li></ul> <p>Other duties as assigned</p> <p>WORK SCHEDULE:</p> <p>8:00am - 4:30pm</p> <p>Position Qualifications</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in Higher Education, Business Administration, Marketing, Counseling or related field. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED:</p> <ul> <li>Two or more years of experience in college and university housing. </li></ul> <p>Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.</p> <p>Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur.
