<p>UPMC Hamot is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join the PACU!</p> <p>This position is full-time, Monday- Friday 12pm-8pm, with no weekends or holidays.</p> <p>One year of previous patient care experience required.</p> <p>Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and experience.</p> <p>Overview: This position will work in the Surgical Family Waiting area checking patients and families in for their procedure, place patients in consult rooms for the physician, and work in PREOP/PACU as needed to care for patients after receiving surgery.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist with patient care, procedures, and daily living activities. Support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.</p> </li><li> <p>Report patient status changes and provide feedback to RNs. Perform core nursing assistant duties: ADLs, vital signs, I&O, blood glucose, weights, specimen collection, Foley care.</p> </li><li> <p>Competent in at least four advanced tasks: phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, simple dressings, Foley/IV catheter removal, bladder scan, straight catheter, point-of-care testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Report equipment malfunctions and maintain communication with departments. Respond to call lights, phones, pass meal trays, and transport patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Accept feedback, identify learning needs, and seek help with prioritization. Educate patients/families under RN direction; manage restraints per protocol.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate clearly with healthcare team; support workplace safety and cultural sensitivity. Maintain professional relationships and demonstrate accountability and motivation.</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to all patient care and hospital policies, including safety protocols. Support departmental changes, projects, and quality initiatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Document care accurately and complete clerical tasks as needed. Maintain competency in advanced skills as required by department needs.</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma or GED required.</p> </li><li> <p>Must meet one of the following experience/education criteria:</p> </li><li> <p>1 year of general healthcare experience</p> </li><li> <p>6 months as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency within 120 days</p> </li><li> <p>Enrollment in PT/OT/PA or related healthcare program with at least one clinical rotation completed</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.</p> </li><li> <p>Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician class. Successful completion of eRecord training.</p> </li><li> <p>EMT or Paramedic certification preferred, or current enrollment in an EMT/Paramedic program.</p> </li></ul> <p>Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:</p> <ul> <li>Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. </li><li>ACLS preferred </li></ul> <p>UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran</p>
