<p>UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full Time Lead Phlebotomist to support the Magee and Montefiore labs!</p> <p>This position will work rotating shifts starting 6:45-8:45am Monday through Friday, as well as rotating Saturdays 8am-12pm. This position will work rotating shifts starting 6:45-8:45am Monday through Friday, as well as rotating Saturdays 8am-12pm. The Lead will work in collaboration with the Lead Phlebotomist at Montefiore and will provide cross coverage for Magee, Montefiore and Falk Clinic. This role will report directly to the Supervisor who has responsibility of all 3 labs. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.</p> <p>Under the direction of the area supervisor, the Lead Phlebotomist ensures that the daily activities of the department are completely accurately and on time. They maintain a safe and professional environment for clients and employees and act as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource person for new employees.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collects specimens in a timely manner and according to established procedures. </li><li>Communicates appropriately with clients, patients, and coworkers. Remains polite and courteous at all times. Communicates all unresolved problems immediately to supervisor. </li><li>Calls clients to confirm handwritten orders, obtains accurate billing information, dx codes, UPIN information, etc. when needed </li><li>Participates on teams and special projects. Performs other duties as assigned. </li><li>Performs basic clerical duties, i.e. filing, faxing, preparing mail, data entry, etc. </li><li>Delegates phlebotomy priorities and other non-urgent tasks to staff as needed </li><li>Keeps work area clean and neat. This includes waste disposal, stocking of supplies, management of lab coat cleaning. </li><li>Interacts with all customers, internal and external, courteously and professionally; answers the phone and responds to telephone inquiries in a timely manner. </li><li>Trains, mentors, and orients new employees as assigned. </li><li>Completes all required documentation and statistical logs as required. </li><li>Processes and/or packages specimens according to testing specifications. Investigates problems and documents occurrences appropriately in a timely manner </li><li>Assists and works with staff to ensure compliance with dress codes, policies and safety regulations. Immediately reports any violations to supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred. </li><li>Minimum 2 years phlebotomy experience. </li><li>Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience is preferred. </li><li>Leadership experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:</p> <ul> <li>Act 34 </li></ul> <p>UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran</p>
