<p>Job Title: Residence Life Summer Work Study</p> <p>Location: Marshalltown Community College</p> <p>Department: Residence Life</p> <p>Reports to: Assistant Housing Director</p> <p>Semester: Summer 2026</p> <p>Number of Openings: 2</p> <p>Rate of Pay: $9.00/hr</p> <p>Schedule: Max of 20 hours a week</p> <p>Summary: The Residence Life Summer Worker helps with departmental administrative functions related to the shutdown, maintenance, and opening of Residence Halls on the MCC Campus. Workers will assist with tasks related to prep/ongoing tasks for summer residents, as well as preparations for the subsequent fall/spring terms. The Summer staff will meet daily with the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Residence Life to obtain tasks and assignments for daily work.</p> <p>Essential Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Assist with main academic year close-out of housing. This includes reviewing and organizing housing end-of year paperwork and key inventory; helping students transition from spring housing to summer housing assignments; moving furniture and other building supplies for summer storage. </li><li>Assist with damage/repair assessment for individual apartments and overall residential buildings. This may include assisting with record-keeping and submission of facility work orders. </li><li>Assist with limited programming for summer residential students. This involves planning and facilitation of both passive and active programs, as well as marketing and communication to residents. This may include assisting the department with additional community engagement programs (ex. Kids in College program through BCS). </li><li>Assist with camps and/or other overnight residential summer events. This includes cleanliness checks for apartments and buildings; organizing applications and other check-in/out paperwork; assisting with key inventory (distribution and collection); creating and/or putting up informational flyers and bulletin boards. </li><li>Assist with daily departmental tasks such as mail delivery, summer admissions tours, plants and exterior maintenance, summer mailings. </li><li>As needed, provide departmental support for Faust Student Union. This may include duties with the Food Pantry and Tiger Vault Supply Closet such as inventory and usage record keeping; clean-out and organizing of spaces; communication of availability and delivery of supplies to summer housing residents in need. </li><li>Assist with housing preparations for the next academic year including apartment/building cleanliness checks; identifying items for repair or other facility work orders; moving furniture, double-checking incoming housing assignments; preparing check-in forms and other materials; assisting with key inventory and prox card set-up. </li><li>Assist with pre-fall departmental tasks such as International and New Student Orientations; new and returning check-in (including fall sports, international, powerline, Resident Assistants); Residential Coordinator (RC) and Resident Assistant (RA) training. </li><li>Other departmental duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience: HS Diploma or equivalent</p> <p>Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Standard word processing and excel spreadsheet knowledge required. </li></ul> <p>Iowa Valley Community College District does not discriminate in its programs, activities, or employment on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, creed, religion, actual or potential family, parental or marital status, or other protected classes.
