By joining Ames, you will be working with talented colleagues at an award-winning, nationally recognized top 75 general contractor.</p> <p>.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Field Engineer is responsible for managing large and complex construction work at the project site to ensure operations run safely, smoothly, and effectively. This position has a wide range of job responsibilities, depending on the area of specialization. These duties might include working on road, bridge, building, steel structures, or other large projects. This position is classified as "safety-sensitive."</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Designs temporary structures used during construction with emphasis on safety considerations </li><li>Inspects installed equipment and technologies. Solves issues that may arise. </li><li>Directs foremen or workers on-site </li><li>Conducts research and accurately reports on project status </li><li>Performs quality control inspections and checks work for compliance with contract documents </li><li>Verifies proper materials are used, and that the installations meet project timelines and requirements </li><li>Affirms safety compliance and enforces proper protocols and PPE on site </li><li>May oversee project budget and communications </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field </li><li>A minimum of one (1) year of previous experience as a field engineer or similar role </li><li>Well-versed in technical aspects of field projects, including machinery, equipment, and construction processes </li><li>Thorough understanding of safety guidelines (OSHA statutes) </li><li>Attention to detail </li><li>Outstanding communication skills </li><li>An analytical mind and strong problem-solving ability </li><li>Ability to work in adverse weather and occasional overtime and weekends </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Travel - This role will be expected to travel to project locations, sometimes nationally </li><li>Construction site environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb.
