<p>JOB TITLE: Recreation Assistant</p> <p>CLASSIFICATION: Non-Career Part Time</p> <p>PAY RATE: Starting at $15.00 an hour</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The Recreation Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of recreation programs, events, and services. This position plays a key role in creating positive, safe, and engaging experience for participants while assisting staff with daily operations and program execution.</p> <p>WORK SCHEDULE: Up to 25 hours a week. With potential for more. Must be flexible with schedule as position involves some weekend and evening hours.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist in the implementation of recreation programs, camps, and special events under the direction of a Recreation Programmer</p> </li><li> <p>Provide direct supervision and engagement with participants to ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment</p> </li><li> <p>Support program setup and breakdown, including arranging tables, equipment, signage, and activity materials</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor participant check-in and attendance, and communicate program information to participants and families</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with basic administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to general inquiries, and completing program documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain cleanliness and organization of program spaces, equipment, and storage areas</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce department policies, procedures, and safety protocols at all times</p> </li><li> <p>Identify and communicate program needs, concerns, or improvement opportunities to supervisors</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with inventory, supply tracking, and preparation of materials for programs and events</p> </li><li> <p>Provide excellent customer service and represent the Parks and Recreation Department in a professional manner</p> </li><li> <p>Support a variety of recreation operations, including evenings, weekends, and special events as assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Must be at least 16 years of age (or adjust based on your standard)</p> </li><li> <p>CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma/GED preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Energetic, creative, motivated, and organized.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively with participants of all ages and abilities</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team</p> </li><li> <p>Must be flexible with scheduling as position involves weekend and evening hours.</p> </li></ul> <p>Applicants will be invited to further participate in the selection process once a driving record and criminal history background check has been cleared.</p>
