<p>Home and Hospital Teachers are part-time, non-contracted employees who are hired on a per student basis. A Wicomico County teacher may also serve as a home and hospital teacher.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>$ 35/hour No benefits.</p> <p>Hours:</p> <p>Ten-month contractual position, on-call basis. Up to 27 hours per week.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree required. Teacher certification preferred.</p> <p>Must be flexible with regard to working a variety of hours.</p> <p>Must have reliable transportation for travel throughout the county.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>It is the responsibility of the Home Hospital teacher to instruct students on an individual basis in a home, hospital, or community setting in a variety of subject areas for the period of time a referred student is out of school.</p> <p>Home and Hospital teachers act as the liaison between the students, parents, and the home schools to help students remain current with their regular class.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities</p> <p>Provides appropriate grade level course instruction based on the mandated curriculum in a variety of settings and locations throughout the Wicomico County. Keeps assigned student(s) on pace with the curriculum to prepare student(s) for the eventual return to school.</p> <p>Utilizes appropriate instructional materials, resources, and technology, to enhance instruction and engage student, while supporting their diverse needs, modifications, and accommodations.</p> <p>Offers instruction to assist student in reaching their academic Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals, as applicable.</p> <p>Responsible for following the modifications/accommodations outlined in a student's IEP or 504 Plan, as applicable</p> <p>Provides the required number of instructional hours and documents all content/curriculum covered at each session.</p> <p>Provides timely feedback concerning student progress to parents/guardians and secures parental/guardian consent or acknowledgement for each session</p> <p>Implements positive behavior management strategies to support a positive learning relational environment.</p> <p>Maintains and logs communication with student's family, school-based point of contact (school counselors, teachers, and</p> <p>IEP/504 teams, as appropriate), and Home and Hospital Teaching (HHT) Dept.</p> <p>Attends required meetings/trainings by WCPS, HHT Dept, and school-based team, as appropriate.</p> <p>Follows all procedures and policies in compliance with the state law, HHT Department, and Board of Education Policies.</p> <p>Completes reports and paperwork in a timely manner.</p> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p>
