<p>Skilled Mechanic - HVAC JobID: 1013</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>12/9/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Adminstration Building</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>01/05/2026</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>01/30/2026</p> <p>Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>HVAC MASTER MECHANIC</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent, college level coursework preferred; </li><li>Trade School background preferred; </li><li>Hold, or obtain within three years, the designation of master mechanic in an appropriate trade; </li><li>Valid NJ Driver's license; </li><li>Knowledge of basic principles of maintenance work related to HVAC; </li><li>Ability to operate (or learn to operate) all types of maintenance tools, equipment and machinery; </li><li>Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength including, but not limited to climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, working on ladders and roofs and in crawl spaces/ceilings; </li><li>Ability to work, diagnose, maintain and repair equipment with limited supervision; </li><li>Familiarity with automated building control systems; </li><li>Other appropriate licenses and experience preferred; </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills; and, </li><li>Flexibility in shift assignments and overtime as needed based on school district projects. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings and Grounds</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To provide the school district with a physical plant and environment that functions smoothly and is safe, clean, attractive and pleasant for students and staff. To accommodate the needs of the academic activities, sport activities, community and non-community functions as regulated by the Board of Education.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Operate and care for hand tools, power tools, equipment and/or vehicles used on the job. </li><li>Maintain written records, completed work order forms and appropriate logs. </li><li>Analyze and scope job assignments in advance for material, tool and manpower needs. </li><li>Work with the Director of Buildings and Grounds to create a schedule when job assignments may conflict with school activities. </li><li>Participate in snow removal. </li><li>Perform HVAC repairs and new installation as directed. </li><li>Perform miscellaneous repairs on equipment and other school district items as directed. </li><li>Perform all repairs and installations safely and efficiently. </li><li>Interact with staff and administration and maintain courteous working relationships. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, Business Administrator and/or Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>Twelve (12) months - follows the maintenance/custodial work calendar (260 days).</p> <p>EVALUATION:</p> <p>Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.</p> <p>Salary: The salary for this position is between $59,408 and $61,808.</p> <p>Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental and vision benefits.
