<p>Job Description</p> <p>The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water, is recruiting for a Natural Resource Specialist 2 in Fairbanks.</p> <p>This position is open to Alaska Residents only.</p> <p>Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.</p> <p>What You Will Be Doing:</p> <p>The Natural Resource Specialist 2 focuses on the technical review and adjudication of mining-related land use authorizations within the Application for Permits to Mine in Alaska (APMA) program and mineral land management tasks. This includes but is not limited to conducting detailed technical reviews of permit applications and reclamation plans to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and operational standards. The role involves: 1) Drafting permit conditions and stipulations to minimize environmental impacts and ensure compliance. 2) External relations, coordinating with permittees, agencies, stakeholders, and providing information to the public. 3) Conducting field inspections to ensure compliance with permits and reclamation plans.</p> <p>The specialist also contributes to the Statewide Mining Reclamation Bond pool and performs case file management duties.</p> <p>Mission and Values/Culture:</p> <p>This position supports the Department of Natural Resources' mission to develop, conserve, and enhance Alaska's natural resources for the benefit of all Alaskans. There is a good balance between office cubicle-based work and fieldwork.
