In collaboration with our justice partners, we provide the vision and leadership that is a necessary foundation for safe, healthy, and thriving communities across Anoka County.</p> <p>The Anoka County Attorney's Office offers law students a unique opportunity to expand their legal knowledge while performing meaningful and challenging work on a wide variety of cases. We are looking for a law clerk to join the Civil Division. A typical clerkship lasts one to two years.</p> <p>Law Clerks conduct legal research, draft memoranda for attorneys, and handle a variety of other tasks. Law Clerks will have the opportunity to handle more complex matters as they gain skills and experience. Law Clerks in the Civil Division typically work primarily on appellate cases and research projects at the direction of the division's attorneys.</p> <p>This is a temporary, non-exempt position with some remote work available.</p> <p>Pay & Benefits</p> <ul> <li> <p>Typical Hiring Rate: $25.00 per hour.</p> </li><li> <p>2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 26. $21.72 to $29.31 per hour.</p> </li><li> <p>Advancement/professional development opportunities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Location</p> <ul> <li> <p>This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.</p> </li><li> <p>This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.</p> </li><li> <p>Typical business hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Your expected hours will be reviewed with you by your supervisor.</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of a Law Clerk in the Anoka County Attorney's Office.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Write and review legal documents.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct legal research and prepare brief and memoranda for attorneys.</p> </li><li> <p>Proofread and cite-check briefs and other materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Organize and maintain digital case files.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Appear in court on behalf of the State.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed</p> <p>Minimum:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of job-related experience</p> </li><li> <p>Eligible for Student Practitioner certification under the Minnesota Supreme Court Supervised Practice Rules. https://ble.mn.gov/supervised-practice/supervised-practice-rules/</p> </li><li> <p>In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis</p> </li><li> <p>Successfully pass criminal history background check which includes fingerprinting.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience drafting, cite-checking, and correcting legal briefs</p> </li><li> <p>Experience managing medium to large-scale document productions</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge and competency with case management software</p> </li><li> <p>Strong verbal and written communication skills</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands and Work Conditions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Standard office environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed.
