<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Senior Director of Major Gifts plays a crucial role in advancing The University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) and UT Graduate School of Medicine's (UTGSM) mission to serve through healing, education, and discovery and is an experienced leader with a track record of cultivating long term, donor centric relationships for major, principal, and planned gifts.</p> <p>Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Major Gifts the Senior Director of Major Gifts will develop and execute major and principal gift strategies and will personally identify/qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major, principal and planned gifts in support of the organizational fundraising priorities and other identified initiatives. They will be involved in the planning and execution of capital and comprehensive campaigns while lending guidance to the major gifts team and donor relations expert. Philanthropic support may come from individuals, corporations and private foundations. Located in Knoxville, TN, this position will have the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule as appropriate.</p> <p>The Senior Director of Major Gifts will be a self-starter with strong listening skills who can identify and cultivate new donors. They will also implement strategic solicitation plans that incorporate our Donor Engagement Process and individual metrics in line with UTMC and UTGSM funding priorities and goals.</p> <p>This position will manage the Philanthropy Advisory Council comprised of internal leadership and community stakeholders. This Council serves as a referral source with bi-annual meetings and various events throughout the year. The Senior Director of Major Gifts will be responsible for the communication, event management, and follow-up of the council. They will also serve as a development liaison to one or more Centers of Excellence and graduate school departments.</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities include managing a portfolio of approximately 125-150 major gift and principal gift prospects, soliciting gifts at the major and principal gifts level through meetings, calls and correspondence in order to obtain and/or increase donor contributions for the UTMC and UTGSM and identifying new prospects for cultivation. Responsible for tracking metrics for accountability and evaluation utilizing Raiser's Edge NXT donor database.</p> <p>The successful candidate will have a proven track record of closing six-seven figure gifts while consistently achieving or exceeding their fundraising goal. A strong orientation to collaboration is required along with an enthusiasm for maintaining relationships with administration, faculty and clinical care teams and an empathy for individuals impacted by health experiences. A background in academic medicine, health care, higher education and/or non-profit is preferred but not required for the candidate who enjoys new challenges and is eager to pursue a role in health care philanthropy.</p> <p>Position Qualification:</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Bachelors required, preferably in business, healthcare administration, philanthropy, communications or marketing</p> <p>Ability to limited travel as necessary and work occasional evenings</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>At least seven years of direct front line fundraising experience with a track record of closing six figure gifts and exceeding goals.</p> <p>Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.</p> <p>Relationship building, organization, and time management skills.</p> <p>Experience working with C-Suite executives.</p> <p>Experience with fundraising events and networking.</p> <p>Works well independently (self-motivated) as well as with a team.</p> <p>Experience with Raiser's Edge or other CRM preferred.</p> <p>Position Specific Responsibilities/Performance Standards:</p> <p>Using a donor-centric approach, identify, cultivate and solicit a diverse base of high-net-worth donors able to make gifts of $25,000 - $1,000,000 to UT Medical Center and/or GSM.</p> <p>Develop a major donor portfolio, managing 125-150 current and prospective major donors and successful moves management of donors in portfolio using the Donor Engagement Process.</p> <p>Collaborate with Executive Director, Major Gifts on campaign planning and execution</p> <p>Provide guidance and assistance with major gifts team</p> <p>Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to secure financial support for patient assistance, education, and research.</p> <p>Management of the Philanthropy Advisory Council including communication, event management, and follow-up.</p> <p>Act as staff liaison for fundraising initiatives or committees as needed.</p> <p>Average 190+ face to face visits per year, focusing on high value moves each visit.</p> <p>Initiate and manage relationships with key medical center adminstrative and physician leadership in the assigned areas of responsibility.</p> <p>Team player with a positive attitude who can effectively work with diverse constituents.</p>
