The CCU cares for patients that have been admitted from the Emergency Department and doctor's office or are overflow patients from the Cardiovascular Surgery Unit (CVU). These patients typically have had a heart attack or are experiencing chest pain. Some of the procedures on this unit include stints, cath lab procedures, balloon pumps, ECMO and pacers. The CVICU is a 12-bed unit that provides cardiac critical care and cares for open heart surgery patients. The CVICU has great teamwork and is known for its inclusion, integrity, empathy and caregiver longevity. Both units have high-satisfaction ratings and are know for their low turnover and longevity and shared love for the adrenaline these units and work provides.</p> <p>The Assistant Nurse Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the daily clinical operations of the CCU and CVICU, ensuring efficient workflows and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include anticipating and resolving patient care and personnel issues, promoting excellence in clinical practice and supporting caregiver development. The role also contributes to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations and continuous performance improvement initiatives to maintain safe, effective and efficient clinical operations. This role is a steppingstone to becoming a Nurse Manager and provides an opportunity to see what a nursing management role is truly like. If you are ready to advance your nursing career into a leadership role, this is a great opportunity to do so and be a part of an elite healthcare organization.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works rotating days/nights from 7:00AM - 7:30PM or 7:00PM - 7:30AM, including three 12-hour shifts and one 4-hour shift.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Interview, select and orient new caregivers.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise and participate in the daily delivery of patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)</p> </li><li> <p>Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)</p> </li><li> <p>Two years of recent clinical nursing experience</p> </li><li> <p>Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment</p> </li><li> <p>Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Five years of nursing experience including two years of critical care experience</p> </li><li> <p>Completion of vascular access classes</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with ventilators, CRRT, Impella and/or balloon pumps</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.</p> </li><li> <p>Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.</p> </li><li> <p>Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.</p> </li><li> <p>Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.</p> </li><li> <p>Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.</p> </li></ul> <p>Personal Protective Equipment:</p> <ul> <li>Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. </li></ul> <p>Pay Range</p> <p>Minimum hourly: $39.50</p> <p>Maximum hourly: $59.60</p> <p>The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).</p>
