<p>Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations, the Director of Environmental and Laundry Services is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and administrative leadership of all aspects of Environmental Services and Linen Management operations across Sturdy Health. This role ensures delivery of high-quality cleanliness and linen management service across the enterprise. The Director will lead the EVS and Laundry teams in developing and implementing strategies, programs, and policies in compliance with environmental regulations, while ensuring departmental and institutional operational goals and objectives are achieved.</p> <p>Education/Training:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or related field required, with master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 (+) years of Environmental Services/Laundry leadership experience in an acute hospital setting, with strong knowledge of environmental regulations, waste management, safety protocols and sustainability practices.</p> <p>Licenses/Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Hazardous Waste Certification </li><li>Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) Certification by the Association for the Healthcare Environment division of AHA is desirable. </li></ul> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Oversee operations of Environmental and Linen Management Services, ensuring optimal efficiency, workflow, staffing, and resource allocation. </li><li>Ensure full compliance with regulatory bodies, including DNV, CMS and DPH standards and regulations. </li><li>Establish and monitor performance metrics for room turnaround times and stakeholder satisfaction. </li><li>Develop and manage departmental budgets, capital planning, cost containment and sustainability initiatives, working within established budgetary parameters. </li><li>Recruit, mentor, manage and lead a high-performing EVS and Linen Management team. </li><li>Promote a culture of continuous learning and collaboration in supporting the team. </li><li>Collaborate with all stakeholder departments to ensure service quality and delivery meet the highest standards of patient care and safety, implementing QA programs as needed. </li><li>Conduct daily staff huddles and rounding to all patient and non-patient areas/departments to ensure cleanliness and service delivery standards are adhered to. </li><li>Coordinate daily staff assignments, floor maintenance work, and timely room turn over. </li><li>Responsible for hazardous, medical, and regulated waste management program and associated hospital recycling and environmental sustainability programs. </li><li>Collaborate with Infection Control to evaluate/acquire technology for infection prevention. </li><li>Purchase of floor maintenance supplies, disinfectants, and sanitizing products. </li><li>Contract pest control services with outside agencies. </li><li>Primary contact for contracted Linen Services to ensure adherence to quality standards and sufficient linen throughout the hospital, including scrub dispensing program. </li><li>Track and report linen usage, replacement, and loss to maintain optimal efficiency and cost effectiveness. Chair Linen Committee and quarterly quality meetings with linen vendor. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 5 years of experience in Environmental Services and Laundry/Linen Management in an acute hospital setting </li><li>Promote understanding, communication and integration of hospital mission, vision, and values </li><li>Direct team in workflow management to ensure timely, high-quality response to service requests </li><li>Employ outstanding communication and customer service skills in collaborating with all stakeholders across the care continuum </li><li>Detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize, organize, and plan work activities efficiently </li><li>Lead sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction and green cleaning practices </li><li>Collaborate with procurement to manage vendor contracts </li><li>Actively participate in hospital Infection Control program </li><li>Responsible for inventory and preventive maintenance of all equipment </li><li>Onboard all new hires, ensuring appropriate orientation, training, and ongoing education </li><li>Ensure EVS and Laundry staff perform duties in a timely, courteous, and professional manner </li><li>Develop and monitor departmental Quality Improvement activities to ensure adherence to standards in all cleanable areas, including specific standards for Operating Room </li><li>Provide individual guidance, support, and motivation to staff to enable them to perform to his/her fullest potential. Create and maintain a positive work environment for all staff </li><li>Knowledgeable on all applicable State and Federal regulations, DNV standards, Medicare COP, and relevant departmental policies to ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies </li><li>Current knowledge of Press Ganey and HCAHPS measures and performance tracking </li><li>Solid fiscal and analytical skills to develop/manage operational, capital and IT budgets and associated expense in achieving annual financial goals </li><li>Outstanding leadership presence, with the ability to listen and receive feedback openly </li><li>Remain current with best practices impacting the health care environment, making recommendations on innovative approaches and available technology </li><li>Expert computer knowledge for quality, data management and analysis related to maintenance of a sterile environment </li></ul> <p>Other duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
