<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Curriculum and Instruction Specialist</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Cheshire Public Schools seek to hire an elementary curriculum and instruction specialist who will serve as a teacher leader. Specialists support teachers' implementation of curriculum, assessments, best practices instructional strategies, and the district's strategic initiatives. The curriculum and instruction specialists in Cheshire serve as instructional coaches for grade level teams and individual teachers. They collaborate closely with the building principal, the district Curriculum Office, and the district's reading and math specialists. Each team member must possess a deep understanding of the curriculum standards for each of the core subject areas as well as the ability to explain, model, coach, and implement research-based instructional strategies. The position requires current Connecticut elementary teacher certification. Experience with multiple grade levels and the facilitation of professional learning is highly desirable.</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, these major obligations:</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual teacher coaching and modeling related to best practices, instructional strategies, the current curriculum, and technology initiatives across the district. </li><li>Coordinate the work of the building's reading, math, and English learner support tutors and aides. </li><li>Support and/or supervise the work of the building's assessment, intervention, and acceleration programs. </li><li>Facilitate grade level and building based meetings and professional learning opportunities related to school and district initiatives. </li><li>Collect, organize, and support the analysis of assessment data and the resultant curriculum and instructional modifications. </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to enhance curriculum units. </li><li>Participate in district instructional, assessment, and curriculum meetings as needed. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Applicant must posses Connecticut Teaching Certificate #001, #002, #004, #005, #013, #102. Current Cheshire Public Schools teacher who enjoys working with others to support student learning OR certified applicant with a minimum of four years classroom experience. The ability to maintain confidentiality.
