<p>Apply Now</p> <p>JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to provide the public with a high volume of pet adoption services and provides general clerical assistance to department staff.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Verifies accuracy of Rabies Vaccination Certificates and enters data into the computer. </li><li>Receives and codes Rabies Vaccination forms. Verifies rabies vaccination tags. </li><li>Inputs information into the computer. </li><li>Answers, screens, and directs incoming telephone calls. </li><li>Accepts returned traps or equipment, verifies condition with kennel staff, returns trap deposits. </li><li>Prepares correspondence, reports, and other documents as directed. </li><li>Greets, directs, and collects fees from visitors. </li><li>Receives, releases, and processes adoptions of animals entering the facility. </li><li>Files vaccination documents, purchase orders, invoices, and other documents as directed. </li><li>Educates the public on responsible pet ownership. </li><li>Corresponds with animal control officers in the field using two-way radio and computer, dispatches calls. </li><li>Process adoptions and disseminates information at special and off-site events. </li><li>Accepts and approves adoption applications, researches information as needed. </li><li>Dispatches animal control officers as needed. </li><li>Assists with duties of Administrative Assistant in their absence. </li><li>Assists in the preparation and record keeping of invoices, purchase orders, and public notifications. </li><li>Assists in preparation and recording of payroll. </li><li>Maintains animal records and files. </li><li>Prepares bills for veterinarians and records information in ledger. </li><li>Opens and distributes mail. </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Requires graduation from a general or technical high school or equivalent. </li><li>3 years clerical experience involving customer service and record keeping required. </li><li>Cashiering, teller, or related skills required. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. </li><li>Must be able to multitask efficiently. </li><li>Ability to be a team player and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and the general public, including dissatisfied citizens, is mandatory. </li><li>Requires general computer skills and working skills in performing data entry and filing. </li><li>Requires successful completion of computerized clerical skills testing as follows: </li><li>Data Entry </li><li>Microsoft Outlook </li><li>Customer Service </li></ul> <p>Please call the Human Resources office at 636-949-7320 to register for clerical testing to be completed online or in person.</p> <p>If you completed clerical testing prior to 8/13/25, please note that our clerical testing has changed, and you may be required to retest.
