Be part of a global leader in environmental solutions, where your work directly impacts the quality of air and water around the world.</p> <p>Position: Electrical & Instrumentation Technician</p> <p>Location: Big Sandy Plant - Catlettsburg, KY</p> <p>Excellent Benefits: Medical, dental, vision and retirement savings (401k)</p> <p>Hours of work: 7 Days per Week; Rotating Shifts 8- or 12-hour shifts</p> <p>The Electrical & Instrument Technician (E&I Technician) will troubleshoot and repair electrical machinery up to and including 480V, 3-phase devices and wiring. E&I Technicians are also responsible for troubleshooting and re-set breakers in the 12,470-volt substation and 69,000-volt substation. E&I Technicians will test, replace, and repair malfunctioning equipment, such as transformers, motors, control components, lighting fixtures, and instrumentation using test equipment and PLC interfaces. E&I Technicians will perform preventative maintenance and repairs to manufacturing equipment as needed. E&I Technicians are responsible for replacing the conduit and wire using hand tools and power tools. Additionally, E&I Technicians will work autonomously or within a group in a self-directed work team environment. E&I Technicians will at times be required to work a rotating shift schedule. Overtime will be required.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)</p> <ul> <li>Be the equipment expert on-site </li><li>Responsible for troubleshooting machinery performance issues </li><li>This includes power distribution issues, instrumentation (control valves, level devices, flow meters, pressure transmitters, variable frequency drives), motor controls, and plc ladder logic </li><li>Once the problem is identified, the E&I Technician is responsible for repairing or replacing the failed component including device parameter set-up, calibration, and / or programming </li><li>Understanding and editing PLC ladder logic is required. E&I Technicians are responsible for studying failures, determining the root cause of failure, and implementing a solution to resolve the problem </li><li>The E&I Technician is responsible for running conduit and wire, installing junction boxes, weather shields, cable tray, and using all fabrication equipment including drill press, grinder, conduit bender, hole saws, and other metalworking tools </li><li>Operate equipment such as fork-lifts and scissor-lifts </li><li>Organize work including identify, schedule, and plan the work required to optimize a production line </li><li>This includes utilizing a CMMS system to manage work orders and parts </li><li>Reference electronic equipment files. </li><li>Coordinate with operators, coaches, storeroom clerks, mechanics, engineers, and outside vendors to perform job duties </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required </li><li>Associates degree (A.A.), or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is preferred </li><li>3-5 years of industrial electrician or technical school is required </li><li>5-7 years of industrial electrician or technical school is preferred </li></ul> <p>About Calgon Carbon</p> <p>At Calgon Carbon, we are scientific innovators with a proud legacy of over 80 years and more than 205 patents to our name.
