The cover letter should address your specific interest in the position and outline skills and experience that directly relate to this position.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Program in Research and Innovation on Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes (PRIMO), housed within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks an experienced, certified Ultrasound Technologist to join our fast-growing obstetrics research team. The ideal candidate will assist on obstetrical health research projects and must have previous experience with a maternal/pregnancy population. This person will be key in providing sonographer experience, insight and support. This position may also assist with approaching pregnant and laboring women for recruitment, obtaining informed consent, collection and recording of data and supporting research providers. This position is .8 FTE (80% or 32 hours a week) and requires a flexible schedule and ability to work at various Michigan Medicine locations.</p> <p>Mission Statement</p> <p>Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.</p> <p>Responsibilities*</p> <p>Ultrasonography</p> <p>General Obstetrics</p> <ul> <li>Independently performs maternal ultrasound examinations per study protocols </li><li>Conduct transvaginal ultrasounds on pregnant population </li><li>Obtain cervical length measurements </li><li>Operate specialized research devices and equipment related to obstetrics ultrasounds </li><li>Provide expert ultrasound guidance and advice for ultrasound device development </li></ul> <p>Cardio-obstetrics</p> <ul> <li>Independently performs adult echocardiography and vascular ultrasonography in a maternal population </li><li>Performs maternal echocardiography examinations per study protocols </li><li>Operate research devices and equipment related to echocardiography </li></ul> <p>Comprehensive</p> <ul> <li>Order, maintain and procure necessary supplies and equipment for ultrasounds </li><li>Monitors and address patient needs during ultrasounds </li><li>Presents study and examination results to physicians </li><li>Responsible for image capture, download and backups </li><li>Review ultrasound images for quality assurance </li><li>Schedules and coordinator tests and prepares operational logs </li><li>Setting up, maintaining and calibrating equipment </li><li>Cleaning probes and equipment </li></ul> <p>Study Reporting/Assistance</p> <ul> <li>Maintains documentation as required including research files, performs data entry, and completes paperwork needed for procedures/processes. </li><li>Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards. </li><li>Review of medical records and input information into data base </li><li>Assists study coordinator with various research duties when needed. </li><li>May train other sonographers in specific study ultrasounds </li><li>Communication with other sites to provide input on ultrasounds and techniques </li></ul> <p>Participant screening/recruitment</p> <ul> <li>Reviewing real time medical records to match potential research participants with inclusion/exclusion criteria for active studies </li><li>Approaching laboring women, giving study overview, while being sensitive to environment and patients involved. </li><li>Explaining study thoroughly, reviewing informed consent, answering any questions, following GCP/IRB and obtaining consent </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications*</p> <p>General Adult Ultrasound Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Registration with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography is necessary within 6 months of hire date </li><li>Certification of Abdomen and OB-GYN is required within 12 months of hire date </li><li>This classification requires Primary Source Verification </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <ul> <li>Must have at least ten years of experience in maternal/obstetrical ultrasounds. </li><li>Multiple years performing ultrasound cervical length measurements </li><li>Flexible work schedule </li><li>Personal transportation to support various work locations </li><li>Ability to work effectively with individuals making a wide range of reproductive health decisions </li><li>Willingness to be flexible in a dynamic work environment </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work well under time constraints and meet deadlines </li><li>Demonstrated ability to prioritize and exercise good judgement </li><li>High attention to detail and accuracy </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as work as part of a team. </li><li>Demonstrated problem solving, conflict resolution, analytical, and critical thinking skills </li><li>Demonstrated ability to perform quality checks of their work and others </li><li>Demonstrated ability to multitask </li><li>Previous experience with electronic medical record such as MiChart </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft suite </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>General hours are Mon-Fri within the 7am-5:30pm range depending on the study needs.</p> <p>Work Locations</p> <p>Primary location is at the main medical campus in University Hospital South (UH South); with regular work activities at VonVoigtlander Women?s Hospital, West Ann Arbor and other Michigan Medicine locations.</p> <p>Modes of Work</p> <p>Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
