<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Special Education/Resource Room - Special Education</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/11/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Covenant Schools</p> <p>(High-Needs School)</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>Immediate</p> <p>District:</p> <p>&nbsp Covenant Schools Detroit&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Position: Special Education Teacher</p> <p>Reports to: Principal, Director of Special Education</p> <p>Location: Covenant Schools Detroit</p> <p>Note: Must be certified</p> <p>Salary: $57-$80K</p> <p>Schedule: Monday-Friday 7 hours/day</p> <p>General Description:</p> <p>The Special Education teacher plans and provides services for students with disabilities.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Manage caseload of Special Education students, including IEP's, REED's & MDR's. </li><li>Measure student skills and progress using appropriate testing instruments. </li><li>Draft appropriate IEP's for caseload students. </li><li>Provide academic support and implement IEP's in both resource room and general ed settings. </li><li>Advise general ed teachers of appropriate accommodations for students with IEP's. </li><li>Coordinate testing accommodations for students with IEP's. </li><li>Submit all required reports and documentation related to special education. </li><li>Participate in Child Find process and Special Education PLC </li><li>Collaborate with school administrators regarding the discipline of students with disabilities. </li><li>Maintain accurate digital and/or paper files for special education students. </li><li>Collaborate with all school staff to deliver appropriate special education services. </li><li>Additional responsibilities as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work collaboratively and independently </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Highly organized </li><li>Attention to detail </li><li>Knowledge of and aptitude for student information systems and software related to special education </li><li>Knowledge of special education procedures </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Michigan Special Education teaching certificate </li><li>Successful experience as a classroom teacher in special education] </li><li>Satisfactory completion of criminal history check </li></ul> <p>This job description is a summary of the responsibilities, duties, knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualifications associated with this position.
