<p>About the Role: Vagaro is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Risk & Fraud Analyst to join our growing Vagaro Merchant Services (VMS) team. The digital fraud landscape is evolving rapidly, and we're committed to protecting our merchants by identifying and mitigating risks before they impact business operations. In this role, you'll monitor activity, investigate risk, and take action on accounts when needed. You'll start by supporting merchant processing and onboarding risk, with increasing exposure to account and card transaction monitoring as new products roll out. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to execute our Global Anti-Fraud strategy and strengthen fraud prevention processes across the company.</p> <ul> <li>This is an onsite position based in Pleasanton, CA.* </li></ul> <p>Compensation:</p> <ul> <li>Base Hourly Wages: $32.00 - $33.00 </li><li>Annual Bonus: Up to 10% </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Merchant Onboarding & KYC Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Review business and merchant applications to prevent and detect fraudulent signups </li><li>Conduct KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) due diligence </li><li>Research and validate businesses to ensure eligibility and compliance </li></ul> <p>Transaction Monitoring & Fraud Prevention</p> <ul> <li>Monitor transaction patterns to identify and prevent fraudulent activity </li><li>Investigate suspected or confirmed fraud cases and provide actionable resolutions </li><li>Utilize fraud detection tools such as Plaid, EverC, and Cybersource </li><li>Adapt to new transaction types and risk signals as financial products evolve </li></ul> <p>Risk Assessment & Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Assess high-risk merchants, industries, and activities to determine appropriate actions </li><li>Stay informed about evolving fraud trends, tools, and compliance requirements </li><li>Collaborate with internal teams to align fraud prevention strategies with business goals </li></ul> <p>Customer & Team Support</p> <ul> <li>Respond to merchant inquiries via phone, email, or chat with accuracy and professionalism </li><li>Assist internal departments with fraud-related inquiries and risk mitigation efforts </li></ul> <p>What You Bring</p> <ul> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications </li><li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks </li><li>Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills </li><li>Problem-solving mindset with the ability to research and resolve complex issues </li><li>Adaptability and reliability in a fast-paced environment </li></ul> <p>Bonus Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in fraud prevention, fraud operations, risk, banking support roles, or merchant processing </li><li>Knowledge of KYC/AML compliance, PCI DSS, and card network regulations (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover) </li><li>Familiarity with tools such as Plaid, EverC, and Cybersource </li><li>Background in payment processing, card programs, digital financial products, or fintech environments </li><li>Understanding of common fraud types (unauthorized transactions, account misuse, identity fraud) </li></ul>
