Each year you can take paid time off to support a cause close to your heart.</p> <p>And what will you do?</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Provides day-to-day leadership of assigned areas. Supervises employees and maintains safety, quality, efficiency, throughput, and on time performance to schedule. Works with the site management team to stay current with the production and shipping schedule, site initiatives, and company initiatives. Supports initiatives to improve the customers' business. Continually improves all aspects of the assigned area.</p> <p>Core Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Follows and enforces all plant safety procedures and uses all applicable personal protective gear. </li><li>Ensures safety goals are achieved, and safety performance continually improves. Periodically performs Job Safety Analysis reviews. Observes and documents near miss/accident reports. </li><li>Develops team through constant On the Job Training and coaching. </li><li>Promotes and oversees daily "huddles" with direct reports and ensures everyone in his/her assigned area takes part in a daily huddle. </li><li>Drives and leads continuous improvement activities to improve area's performance in safety, quality, productivity, on time performance, and other site key performance indicators (KPIs). </li><li>Utilizes visual methods in the daily operations within the assigned area, including but not limited to safety, quality, productivity, on time performance to schedule, and site KPIs. </li><li>Promotes the development of current and future team leaders in preparation for higher levels of leadership. </li><li>Ensures that all quality control checks are effectively completed. Ensures all quality issues are investigated, root causes determined, and corrective actions implemented. </li><li>Ensures all Autonomous Maintenance routines are completed timely, assess and reports equipment issues, creates and follows up on maintenance work requests. </li><li>Conducts interviews for positions within the site. </li><li>Monitors team's performance and implements team and individual goals to improve overall team performance. </li><li>Understands and communicates location financials and team's impact on the financials. </li><li>Coaches all team members to improve and understand basic improvement mindset, job duties, and safety. </li><li>Identifies and mentors high potential team members to prepare them for the next steps. This includes one-on-one time to have them learn from Experience of doing, Exposure to situation, and Education for skills. Delegates as needed to team leaders to help grow them and balance supervisor workload. </li><li>Resolves conflicts between people, shifts, departments, and sites. </li><li>Motivates the team to always hit and exceed goals, pointing out and correcting concerns or issues. </li><li>Appraises performance of employee owners within the assigned area. Gives immediate feedback on performance concerns and frequent feedback on progress. </li><li>Performs Performance Evaluations each year with all EO's that cover previous year's performance (with no surprises), areas needing improvement, progress during the past year, and any personal development items that should be worked on together. </li><li>In a daily basis, monitors the assigned area's performance against KPI's. Works with the team to ensure deviations (good and bad) are understood and actions are in place to address these deviations. Uses indicators to make the proper adjustments to still maintain the end goals. </li><li>Understands cost control and what financially impacts the assigned area. This includes knowing cost impact of OT, scrap, lost production time, etc. This impact should be known and actively managed through the monitoring of the KPI's. </li><li>Understands Environmental and Safety Regulations (and company standards) and work with the team to ensure compliance. </li><li>Ensures that Quality Control is being performed at each work center based on the QC standard, RMA corrective actions, and internal/external customer feedback. </li><li>Trains and drives operational principles within the assigned area. These basic principles center around Continuous Improvement, Self-Quality Control routines, and the application of tools like 5-S and Waste Elimination. </li><li>Plans and balances work hours (including overtime) for each work cell based on workload, characteristics of the orders on the schedule, standard or average production run rates, shipping schedules and demand form the Paint Line. </li><li>Assigns works to each weld station/welder based on product complexity, skill level, certification requirements and to the extent that is possible distributes the workload fairly and evenly among the different weld stations. </li><li>Manages the inventory of weld consumables, welding/cutting accessories, manual and power tools needed for the fabrication process in the department. </li></ul> <p>Duties, responsibilities, and activities are not limited to the list above and may change at any time with or without notice.</p> <p>Key Measures of Success:</p> <ul> <li>Be detailed and customer oriented. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret fabrication shop drawings including welding symbols. </li><li>Proficient in SAW and GMAW welding processes including manual, semiautomatic and robotic applications. </li><li>Proficient in visual weld inspection and application of applicable acceptance criteria. </li><li>Capable of recognizing weld defects, its possible causes and define actions to repair the defect and to address the root causes. </li><li>Ability to do basic mathematical calculations, use a calculator and the use of measurement instruments such as tapes, micrometers, protractors, weld gauges, etc. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. </li><li>Ability to function well in a high-paced environment. </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to identify deficiencies and troubleshoot. </li><li>Consistently exhibits and displays the company's values of "Own It. Act in Love." </li><li>Own It - Commitment to customer, company, and each other. </li><li>Can Do - Team Player, Open to Change, & Pursuing continuous improvement. </li><li>Act in Love - Treating others with humility, respectfulness, kindness, honesty, patience, and self-control </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience:</p> <p>Minimum Required:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of four years of experience in fabrication of structural steel. </li><li>Two-year degree in a related field or a minimum of two years of experience in a leadership role in the manufacturing industry. </li><li>The equivalent combination of education and experience. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands & Work Environment:</p> <p>This position is primarily working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach/pull/push/grab with hands and arms, kneel, and crouch, twist and bend. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or crawl. This position requires the ability to communicate verbally and electronically. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
