As an Anatomic Pathology Technologist I, you'll play a vital role in the efficient functioning of our laboratory and morgue. Reporting to the Surgical Pathology and Autopsy Supervisors, you'll perform technical and clerical tasks under direct and indirect supervision.</p> <p>The Anatomic Pathology Specialist plays a critical role in supporting both Surgical Pathology and Autopsy Services. Responsibilities include accurate triaging and accessioning of specimens, grossing small surgical samples under supervision, managing specimen labeling and distribution, maintaining laboratory equipment, and assisting with day-to-day lab operations. In Autopsy Services, the specialist ensures proper authorization, patient identification, and documentation; assists with autopsy procedures and sample collection; and maintains a clean, safe, and organized autopsy suite. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety and compliance protocols, and effective communication with clinical teams and external partners.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Specializes in the diagnosis and study of diseases by examining tissues, cells, and bodily fluids. Responsible for identifying abnormalities that can help diagnose diseases and manage treatment. This role works independently, under direct and indirect supervision, and performs technical and clerical tasks required for efficient functioning of laboratory and morgue.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Principal Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>In this role, you'll:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Accurately triage and accession specimens, including frozen section specimens.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure proper labeling of all received specimens and troubleshoot deficiencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate administrative duties for the Autopsy Service, including reconciling daily manifests and obtaining proper patient authorization.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with technical duties in the autopsy suite and morgue, including patient identification and specimen collection.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain cleanliness and organization of the autopsy suite and laboratory.</p> </li></ul> <p>Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools and procedures specific to assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise. </li><li>Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families. </li><li>Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflict. </li><li>Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information. </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Baccalaureate degree in biological sciences required.</p> </li><li> <p>Courses in Medical Terminology and Human Anatomy preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>One year of related clinical experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Details (if applicable)</p> <p>Remote Type</p> <p>Onsite</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>273 Charles Street</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours</p> <p>40</p> <p>Employee Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Work Shift</p> <p>Day (United States of America)</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>The General Hospital Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
