<p>JOB POSITION: Vocal Music/Theatre Teacher</p> <p>IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Principal</p> <p>SALARY: Teacher Contract</p> <p>CONTRACT LENGTH: School Year</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Vocal Music/Theatre teacher is a highly qualified and state certified teacher responsible</p> <p>for delivering Grades K-5 vocal music/theatre content in a differentiated manner that is</p> <p>aligned with the National Core Arts Standards using developmentally appropriate</p> <p>benchmarks specified in Indiana Academic Standards for Music and Theatre.</p> <p>This position will include a combination of classes which may include vocal and general</p> <p>music, choir, musical theatre, drama, and arts integration.</p> <p>? Provide for choir participation at school-related and community events,</p> <p>such as concerts, recruiting performances, community outreach, etc.</p> <p>? Assist with compiling budgets and cost estimates based on documented</p> <p>program needs</p> <p>? Coordinate fundraising activities and management of funds</p> <p>? Facilitate cleaning, repairing, and storing all vocal music/theatre equipment</p> <p>? Develop and implement plans for vocal music/theatre program and show</p> <p>written evidence of preparation, including lesson plans, as required</p> <p>? Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments of student</p> <p>achievement</p> <p>? Accompany and supervise students on field trips, when necessary</p> <p>? Maintain open communication and professional relationships with all</p> <p>stakeholders</p> <p>? Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and</p> <p>regulations</p> <p>? Adhere to the district's safety policies and procedures</p> <p>? Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business</p> <p>? Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance</p> <p>? Other duties as assigned</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>? Licensed and highly-qualified in the area of Vocal Music and/or theatre, K-5</p> <p>? Musical theatre experience, highly recommended</p> <p>? Working knowledge about arts integration</p> <p>? Ability to manage a budget and supplies</p> <p>? Knowledge of state, district and school policies and procedures</p> <p>? Ability to interpret district policies, procedures and data</p> <p>? Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills</p> <p>? Experience working in an urban environment preferred</p> <p>? Must not currently be on a Performance Improvement Plan</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>? Have a working knowledge of best practices in vocal/general music and theatre</p> <p>education, as well as arts integration</p> <p>? Be familiar with age-appropriate activities and assessments in Music and Theatre</p> <p>from Indiana Academic Standards and National Core Arts standards and be willing to</p> <p>collaborate with colleagues on forming cross-curricular connections</p> <p>? Implement an intentional curriculum based in creativity with a clear scope and</p> <p>sequence to build our program by reinforcing skills in conjunction with Nuner's Arts</p> <p>Team and Grade Level teachers, especially to integrate arts content into ELA and</p> <p>Math and to integrate ELA and Math into arts content</p> <p>? Reference instructional materials/resources recommended for the district (Making</p> <p>Music)</p> <p>? Develop and implement plans for music/theatre program and show written evidence</p> <p>of preparation, including daily/weekly lesson plans, as required</p> <p>? Direct an after-school group at least one day per week (Choir, Musical Cast, etc.) that</p> <p>meets for the majority of the school-year as part of contractual obligations</p> <p>? Plan, rehearse, and direct students in a minimum of four productions per year at the</p> <p>building level, one of which is the all-school musical for which</p> <p>costumes/set/props/programs/lights/sound, etc. must be organized</p> <p>? Prepare students to perform for additional school/community/extra-curricular</p> <p>performances, when scheduled (including Open Houses, Showcase of Schools, DTSB</p> <p>events, etc.)</p> <p>? Attend and support colleagues as needed at rehearsals and performances for other</p> <p>arts-related school events</p> <p>? Advocate for positive press and public relations within the community by sending</p> <p>notifications of events and participate in all Fine Arts Music/Theatre recruiting</p> <p>? Seek out additional opportunities for our students involving local companies/studios,</p> <p>guest performers, field trips, and funding from grants</p> <p>? Guide, motivate and involve students in differentiated learning, including</p> <p>understanding the principles of music and theatre, as well as specific performance</p> <p>techniques through individual and group practice and performances</p> <p>? Enhance symbolic communication and promote self-esteem, self-motivation,</p> <p>aesthetic awareness, and cultural exposure</p> <p>? Improve emotional expression, social harmony, relationships, team-building,</p> <p>cooperation, and self-confidence, and provide an avenue for growing performance</p> <p>competencies</p> <p>? Make use of quality music and theatre literature in diverse styles that are appropriate</p> <p>in difficulty and range for students</p> <p>? Create and communicate reasonable grading policies, classroom procedures, and</p> <p>other expectations</p> <p>? Maintain a safe and highly engaged classroom, using appropriate materials and</p> <p>classroom management skills.</p> <p>? Document learning/behavioral concerns and parent contacts</p> <p>? Remain in communication with families, providing advance notice and information</p> <p>about upcoming events and student progress</p> <p>? Complete and maintain all required student records</p> <p>? Utilize the SBCSC technology, as required</p> <p>? Attend corporation Fine Arts and Music/Theatre/Elementary staff meetings as</p> <p>scheduled and participate in building-wide trainings and initiatives</p> <p>? Facilitate cleaning, repairing, storing, and updating an inventory for all music and</p> <p>theatre supplies/equipment</p> <p>? Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business</p> <p>? Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance and reliability</p> <p>? Other duties as assigned</p> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an</p> <p>employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
