<p>Safety Coordinator</p> <p>Metals USA is seeking a Safety Coordinator for our Langhorne & Fairless Hills, PA facilities located in Bucks County PA. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented, carbon-steel (plate, beam, tube) distribution center servicing the defense, commercial, construction, aerospace and fabrication industries.</p> <p>The Safety Coordinator is responsible for monitoring the working conditions of the entire facility (to include but limited to: warehouse, office, external property and parking lots) of Langhorne and Fairless Hills to ensure that all activity is compliant with local, state and federal safety regulations. The Safety Coordinator enforces company health and safety guidelines, inspects workspaces and products to ensure compliance with safety standards and provides workplace safety training.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Facilitates compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) guidelines. Implements OSH policies and develops programs to ensure enforcement of OSH policies. </li><li>Trains employees in all safety procedures and ensures daily adherence with procedures. Leads and manages the required daily, weekly and monthly trainings. </li><li>Designs methods for appraising safety conditions in the warehouse and office. </li><li>Inspects working conditions and equipment to ensure all products and activities are compliant with safety guidelines as required by OSH and RSAC. Recalls defective and unsafe products and machinery. </li><li>Directs accident investigation procedures, investigates safety violation, determines root causes maintains records of safety-related incidents and proposes corrective actions. </li><li>Collaborates with managers to monitor compliance and safety issues; intervenes in unsafe activities and operations. </li><li>Oversees the use of dangerous chemicals and machinery, and determines potential safety risk. </li><li>Conducts risk assessments and enforces preventative measures. </li><li>Coordinates with HR to set-up a new employee on-boarding safety process. </li><li>Oversees workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety. </li><li>Suggests revisions to production schedules and employee activity that does not meet health and safety codes. </li><li>Orders safety gear and supplies for the workplace. </li><li>Facilitates emergency drills as required to gauge employee readiness. </li><li>Consults with management regarding the implementation of new safety procedures as mandated by company, local, state and federal agencies. </li><li>Assists HR with the workers compensation claim investigation and management. </li><li>Assists HR and legal departments to address any health and safety related lawsuits. </li><li>Complies with company and OSHA safety policies and safe work practices. </li><li>Liaises with and reports to official regulatory bodies on OSH matters. </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a safety coordinator as this is hands-on position. </li><li>Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Certifications/Licenses:</p> <ul> <li>Current valid driver's license in good standing </li><li>Current and valid OSHA forklift certificate </li><li>Current and valid overhead crane certificate </li><li>Current and valid aerial work platform certificate </li><li>OSHA 30 Hour Certificate </li><li>Current and valid NFPA 70E Arc Flash Certificate </li><li>Current and Valid OSHA7505 -- Introduction to Accident Investigation Certificate </li><li>Current and Valid OSHA 3095 -- Electrical Standards Certificate </li><li>Current and Valid OSHA 7115 -- Lock Out Tag Out Certificate </li><li>Current and Valid OSHA 2045 -- Machine Guarding Certificate </li><li>Current and Valid OSHA 7205 -- Health Hazards Certificate </li><li>Current and Valid OSHA 7500 -- Health and Safety Management Certificate </li><li>Current and Valid OSHA 7845 -- Recordkeeping Certificate </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Occupation requires physical activity more than 75% of the time (> 7.0 hours per day)</p> <ul> <li>Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend </li><li>Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance </li><li>Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination </li><li>Time will be spent on the job-site floor monitoring & inspecting conditions </li><li>Job Site may be hazardous or pose serious threat in emergency situations </li><li>Other Physical Requirements: </li><li></li><li>Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) </li><li>Steel-toed boots and high visibility clothing </li><li>Hard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while in the warehouse </li><li>Protective eyewear </li><li>Hand protection </li><li>Arm guards/sleeves </li><li>Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.</p> <ul> <li>Environmental temperature changes hot & cold, rain & snow, wet & dry </li><li>Working inside and outside of an industrial warehouse </li><li>Moderate to loud noise levels </li><li>Vibration </li><li>Oils, dust, fumes and metallic particles </li><li>Day and night shifts </li><li>Local travel to satellite facilities will be required </li><li>Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Occupation Health & Safety, Safety Management or related field preferred </li><li>OSHA certification is required </li><li>Previous work experience in the health and safety field is preferred </li><li>Management experience in an heavy industrial environment required </li><li>Advanced reading and writing comprehension in English (to read work order instructions, safety and policy manuals) </li><li>Demonstrates broad knowledge of local, state and federal safety guidelines for the workplace </li><li>Demonstrates diplomacy and confidentiality at all times in both oral & written communications </li><li>Demonstrates familiarity with job site machinery and products </li><li>Exhibits knowledge of appropriate emergency protocols </li><li>Possesses strong leadership skills;
