<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Performs skilled manual labor and operates equipment such as tandem dump truck in hauling materials and equipment for various maintenance activities in the repair and preservation of state roads and bridges. Including performing work on shoulders, ditches, drainage structures and rights-of-way. Operates medium sized equipment such as skid steer loader, belt loader, nurse truck and large roller in various maintenance operations. Operates heavy equipment such as tractor with ditcher, slope mower, and backhoe in various maintenance operations such as routine ditching, limbing and shoulder repair. Assists in the coordination and placement of traffic control devices to properly set up and maintain work zones according to SCDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Manual and Field guide to warn motorists. Assists in emergency or inclement weather operations, including being available for extended hours or 12 hour shifts. Operates both anti icing and snow removal equipment during winter weather operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.</p> <p>The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards.
