<p>Job Title Library Circulation Student Supervisor (Fall 2025) Department The Help Center Job Description/Duties</p> <p>Provide face-to-face customer service to library patrons and peer supervision to Library Circulation Assistants whose tasks may include:</p> <ul> <li>loaning/returning books and equipment </li><li>opening and/or closing the library </li><li>navigating the SUNY Cortland website and myRedDragon to find information </li><li>configuring mobile devices to the SUNY Cortland Wi-Fi network </li><li>answering telephones </li><li>assisting customers with Microsoft Office and other supported software applications </li><li>answering directional questions </li><li>shelving books </li><li>troubleshoot WEPA print stations </li><li>instructing customers in use of library equipment </li></ul> <p>Library Circulation Supervisor Tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Assisting evening staff in overseeing Memorial Library and Library Circulation Assistants </li><li>Assisting in training and evaluation of Library Circulation Assistants </li><li>Ensuring that relevant policies are being enforced and procedures are being followed </li><li>Handling cash transactions </li><li>Responding to exit alarms and fire system trouble alarms </li><li>Assisting in coordinating with University Police Department and first responders in emergency situations </li><li>Submitting shift reports </li></ul> <p>Days/Hours Needed</p> <p>Hours of coverage coincide with Memorial Library's hours of operation, which are subject to change. Based on the current hours of operation, coverage is required for the following:</p> <ul> <li>Monday through Thursday: 3 p.m. to midnight </li><li>Friday: 3 to 6 p.m. </li><li>Saturday: 9:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. </li><li>Sunday: 10:45 a.m. to midnight </li></ul> <p>Study Days and Finals week require extended hours.</p> <p>Campus Location/Bldg.</p> <p>The Help Center/Memorial Library</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must be a current SUNY Cortland student </li><li>More than 2 semesters working as a Library Circulation Assistant </li><li>Thorough knowledge of Circulation policies and procedures </li><li>Familiarity with Memorial Library resources </li><li>Proficiency at basic tech troubleshooting (e.g. password resets, registering devices to WiFi, adding email to mobile devices, etc.) </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Willing to work at least 4 supervisor shifts per week including at least one weekend shift </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in peer leadership/supervision </li><li>Experience handling cash transactions </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Ability to push and pull loaded book trucks and to lift 20 pounds</p> <p>Special Conditions for Eligibility</p> <p>2 semesters working as a Memorial Library Circulation Assistant</p> <p>Contact Name(s) & Email(s)</p> <p>Library@cortland.edu</p> <p>Salary Grade B-$16.00/hr.
