<p>EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Nine-month, tenure-track position</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The position of Assistant Professor educates both graduate and undergraduate students. The Assistant Professor teaches aspiring superintendents in the Educational Specialist program. Additionally, the Assistant Professor teaches in the undergraduate Elementary, Middle School and Secondary Education, and/or Special Education programs and advises undergraduate students. The Assistant Professor also conducts research in their area of specialization and offers service to the School, College, University, profession, and community. The Assistant Professor helps in recruitment and promotion of department programs to a broad-based market of both undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, the Assistant Professor possesses the ability to facilitate online program development, course redesign and other progressive methods of developing and delivering high quality programs through continual collaboration with school colleagues.</p> <p>PRIMARY DUTY: The Assistant Professor, Education teaches 12-13 credit hours each fall and spring, conducts research and creative scholarly work, advises students, and participates in multiple service opportunities on and off-campus.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Teach courses pertaining to leadership and/or teacher preparation</p> </li><li> <p>Advise undergraduate and/or graduate candidates</p> </li><li> <p>Be active in scholarship, professional organizations, and ongoing professional development</p> </li><li> <p>Cultivate and support partnerships with P-12 school districts and other college partners</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with colleagues/students in school, college, and University activities</p> </li><li> <p>Support state, national and institutional accreditation and federal reporting as required</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned</p> </li></ol> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Education: Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration or department related field</p> <p>Certification/License: Teacher/Principal/Superintendent certification in any state; valid driver's license</p> <p>Experience: Experience in school administration as a superintendent and/or teaching; demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level</p> <p>Skills: Demonstrated university record of administrative/leadership experience; ability to champion all discipline areas; demonstrated knowledge of certification and accreditation process; demonstrated record of scholarly activity; willingness to partner with and assist with local school districts with identified needs; knowledge of latest trends in technology as applied to the field</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS: Climate-controlled buildings</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise administrative practicum/interns and/or student teachers</p> <p>EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Routine office equipment; ITV classroom and computer screen projection equipment; Faculty are issued laptop computers</p> <p>TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to complete essential classroom functions; travel to Northwest campus and all Outreach sites, as well as Graduate P-12 partner sites</p> <p>COMMUNITY: Northwest Missouri State University is located in Maryville, Missouri, a community of 12,000 with a diverse economy and a strong industrial base. Wright Farm, Mozingo Outdoor Education Recreation Area, a partnership with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency or Knacktive, a student-driven integrated digital marketing communications agency. In conjunction with its emergency and disaster management program, Northwest organizes and hosts Missouri Hope, an annual mass casualty training exercise that attracts first responders and emergency workers from throughout the nation and provides hands-on training in preparation for a natural disaster.</p> <p>The University's vibrant and diverse learning community also offers more than 150 student organizations, and textbooks and a laptop are included in tuition, saving students an estimated $6,900 over four years.
