<p>Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is actively seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Data Governance Analyst with a strong focus on data security, quality and accessibility, advanced data visualization, and SQL expertise to join our Data Science & Analytics team. This pivotal role will significantly contribute to our data-driven transformation by spearheading the development of sophisticated data products, such as dashboards and reports, tailored for various stakeholders within our college community, while establishing robust processes and procedures to uphold data quality and integrity.</p> <p>As a Data Governance Analyst, you will become an integral part of our collaborative and forward-thinking Data Science & Analytics team, working in tandem with fellow data enthusiasts to democratize data across our institution. Your responsibilities will encompass the complete lifecycle of strategic dashboards, reports, and data products, from conceptualization through design and onto maintenance. Join us in shaping the future of data-driven excellence at SLCC.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities and Duties</p> <ul> <li>Working with the Assistant Director of Business Analytics, design and build reports, dashboards, and data products in partnership with users across the college to meet their needs for data-informed decision making. Focus on effectively visualizing data to deliver actionable insights. Utilize best practices in analytics and visualizations. Respond to ad-hoc data requests from a variety of stakeholders to the college. </li><li>Work to understand business processes throughout the college in order to create actionable processes and procedures surrounding safe and efficient handling of institutional data. Ensure that policies and procedures on data governance are enforced and adhered to. Provide trainings, lead discussions and engage with varied SLCC stakeholders to create awareness on data governance efforts at SLCC. </li><li>Ensure quality, trusted data is reported. </li></ul> <p>Conduct thorough review of own work.</p> <p>Perform detailed reviews of team members' work and provide feedback.</p> <ul> <li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Intelligence, or Computer Sciences </li><li>Two (2) to three (3) years of SQL experience </li><li>Two (2) to three (3) years of data visualization and reporting experience </li><li>Two (2) to three (3) years of data governance experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Information Systems, Business Intelligence, or Computer Sciences </li><li>Experience in higher education data analysis and data governance </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Data Governance Understanding: Proficiency in comprehending and applying data governance principles to ensure data security, quality, and access. </li><li>Data Management: Skill in handling data structures, relational databases, and storage systems. </li><li>Leadership and Communication: Capable of leading and facilitating productive meetings, documenting data decisions, and communicating effectively. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. </li><li>Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking skills to identify and resolve issues, coordinate solutions, and manage multiple priorities. </li><li>Attention to Detail: A commitment to data quality and precision in work. </li><li>SQL Proficiency: Ability to query data effectively with SQL, including analytical and window functions, for optimization, documentation, and maintenance. </li><li>Data Interpretation: Experience in understanding users' data needs and translating them into impactful visualizations, reports, or data products. </li><li>Business Intelligence: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Power BI. </li><li>Software and Tool Adaptability: Willingness and ability to learn new software, tools, and processes. </li><li>Feedback and Collaboration: History of accepting and providing constructive feedback and effective collaboration within varied teams.
