<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Special Education Teacher - ABA Classroom</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Marlborough Elementary School is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and student-centered certified Special Education Teacher to lead an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) classroom serving students with intensive behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and academic needs in grades PreK-6. This full-time position involves creating a highly structured, supportive, and individualized learning environment that promotes student growth, independence, and success across settings.</p> <p>The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, related service providers, behavior analysts, paraprofessionals, and families to implement evidence-based behavioral and instructional practices while fostering meaningful relationships and a positive classroom culture.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design and implement individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals, Connecticut Core Standards, and behavioral support plans. </li><li>Utilize principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support student learning, communication, self-regulation, and behavioral growth. </li><li>Develop and maintain a structured, predictable, and supportive classroom environment that meets the sensory and behavioral needs of students. </li><li>Collect, analyze, and utilize student data to monitor progress and inform instructional and behavioral decisions. </li><li>Collaborate closely with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families. </li><li>Provide coaching, direction, and support to classroom support staff to ensure consistency in behavioral and instructional practices. </li><li>Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) and proactive de-escalation strategies. </li><li>Foster strong relationships with students and families through consistent communication regarding student progress and needs. </li><li>Participate actively in PPT meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional learning opportunities. </li><li>Maintain compliance with all special education documentation, timelines, and procedural requirements. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut certification in Special Education. </li><li>Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders and/or significant behavioral needs preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and experience implementing behavioral programming. </li><li>Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills. </li><li>Ability to create individualized supports and adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs. </li><li>Experience supervising and collaborating with paraprofessional staff is preferred. </li><li>Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered learning environment. </li></ul> <p>Why Join Marlborough Elementary School?</p> <ul> <li>Supportive and collaborative school community committed to student success. </li><li>Opportunities for professional development and growth in behavioral and special education practices. </li><li>A team-oriented environment focused on whole-child development. </li><li>Small-town charm with close proximity to cultural and educational resources in Connecticut. </li><li>Strong commitment to PBIS, social-emotional learning, and inclusive practices. </li></ul> <p>For more information about our school, please see the link to the Job Application and the district website.</p> <p>If you have any questions, please contact Carmela Monte at cmonte@marlborough.k12.ct.us or call (860) 295-6236.</p>
