You will build a career that you are proud of, at a company you can believe in.</p> <p>We are currently seeking to fill an immediate need for a Purchasing Agent!</p> <p>As a Purchasing Agent, you will provide support to our regional and market distribution centers and our Blended branches by purchasing products to ensure inventory service level goals are met. If you have excellent customer service skills, strong critical thinking skills and experience juggling multiple requests while still meeting urgent deadlines, this is a great opportunity to grow with an industry leader.</p> <p>This position is a Hybrid role based out of our Newport News, VA location, in accordance with the Ferguson Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote. Please see below requirements for more information on hybrid work possibilities.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Process daily emergency and surplus transfers to ensure inventory accuracy and timely fulfillment. </li><li>Execute manual transfers as requested by the Buying Team. </li><li>Review and action daily reports identifying non-stock orders that should be redirected to another distribution center versus ordered directly from the vendor. </li><li>Complete daily distribution center transfer audits to maintain data integrity and operational accuracy. </li><li>Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to resolve transfer-related inquiries and issues in a timely manner. </li><li>Process additional ad-hoc tasks related to transfers as needed. </li><li>Provide guidance, training, and support to less experienced team members. </li><li>Adhere to all established safety policies and standards, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others. </li><li>Deliver high levels of customer service, partnering with internal customers to support business needs and operational efficiency. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience, preferred </li><li>Prior knowledge of construction industry products, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or appliances </li><li>Prior purchasing or buying experience, especially supporting a region or multiple stores, a huge plus </li><li>Strong computer proficiency including use of Microsoft applications and navigating multiple software systems, required </li><li>Intermediate proficiency with Excel, such as use of v-lookups, concatenate and pivot tables, a plus </li><li>Experience with Oracle, SAP, Logility or similar purchasing software, a plus </li><li>Strong interpersonal & customer service skills and a team-centric mentality </li><li>Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and multitasking skills needed, including the ability to juggle multiple, urgent requests </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization </li></ul> <p>Requirements for Hybrid Workers:</p> <ul> <li>This may require schedule flexibility for onboarding and training as well as team meetings. Hybrid candidates are expected to be in office 3 days per week. </li><li>Hybrid candidates must have high speed internet connection. </li><li>Future in-office requirements are TBD and are subject to change. </li></ul> <p>At Ferguson, we care for each other.
